Team Fit

Strengths

Anderson’s biggest strength is his size, standing at 6’5” and weighing in at 320 pounds. He shows very good strength and is very powerful as a pass blocker. He has very strong hands and has the strength to stop defenders in their path. His base is very strong and he has good balance for a guy his size. Anderson is a very patient pass blocker and allows schemes to develop in front of him before making his move.

Weaknessess

Anderson lacks athleticism and this limits him in the run game because he is unable to get to the second level. He tends to lunge when he gets beat and this leads to him missing blocks. He has less than perfect footwork and doesn’t have the speed or quickness to recover on pass rushers if he misses his initial blow. Anderson is a big body and this leads to his slow feet. He won’t be able to be utilized in space as a pulling lineman and will often get beat by elite NFL pass rushers. His size and inability to get low really makes him a nonfactor against edge rushers who use leverage to their advantage. Fast, low leverage pass rushers will have their way with Anderson.

Big Picture

Someone will take a shot on Anderson simply because of his size and strength. Outside of that, there isn’t much about Anderson that NFL scouts will like. He would only fit into schemes that don’t stretch the field east to west and only has value as an interior pass blocker because he would be beat frequently on the outside. He is a very high level IQ lineman and could help defeat blitzing schemes on the inside of a pass rush. Anderson will get some day 3 looks based strictly on his size and hand strength. NFL teams will use him in a gap scheme in order to utilize his close space strength. Teams will hope to work on his footwork and eventually use him as an outside tackle in passing situations but that would take a few years to develop. Anderson should be drafted strictly based on his low ceiling and sheer size, but don’t be surprised if this massive prospect goes undrafted.
