Strengths

Pete has good size and length for the LB spot. He has good rangle all over the field and, generally, moves well across the field. He has had phenominal durability during his career and has decent positional versatility to help in multiple spots. He shows flashes of great pass coverage LB skills and quick processing ability. He has fairly fluid hips in open space and takes good angles to the ball carrier. He is not afraid to attack the LOS or drop into coverage. Plays with a high motor and finds the ball each play fairly well.

Weaknessess

Has a wiry frame who greatly struggles to break free from linemen once they grip him. He can be slow to process and plug the wrong gap too quickly or go the wrong way. He can get sucked into the flow of a play if the ball is being misdirected. Needs to improve recognition skills instead of being only reactionary. Does not have many pass rush moves and relies on gaps in the line or stunts to create space for him to run.

Big Picture

Pete has good athleticism and experience to allow him to help immediately in the NFL. After a few seasons of development, I expect him to be a starter. Moving as well as he does along the line is always welcomed in the NFL. He needs to work on his pass rush as he will not be a major impact there yet. His wiry frame looks like he can add some more muscle as well, making him more imposing at the LOS. He struggles to break free from lineman who latch on now as well and will not get better in his early NFL career going against top lineman each week. There is still work to do in pass coverage but can be servicable immediately while fine tuning some of his technique and working out route recognition. He will most likely struggle against elite RB and TE athletes but should be able to learn to coverage lesser athletic receivers in man coverage. His fearless play to plug gaps, drop into coverage or rush is always welcomed. He will need to take himself out of less plays by working on play recognition and not getting caught in the flow of a play. Pete should be a day 2-early day 3 pick to develop into a good player in a few years.

Athleticism:

Overall, Pete moves well on the field. He will at times lose balance and trip and have tight hips in coverage but can move fairly easily across the field, including laterally. He also tested well in general, it just does not always show on the field. He plays fast enough from a physical standpoint but lacks the mental speed at times. He does lack play strength and rarely will overpower blockers. Typically, RBs with good technique can fairly easily beat him when he is rushing the QB.

Pete can be quick off the snap, but never lining up at the LOS makes this quickness fairly obsolete. While he has decent length and a good first punch, he does not often gain true leverage when rushing. He lacks a good arsenal of rush moves to rely on when getting blocked. He primarily relies on stunts or space showing up to effectively rush. He tries to stay off defenders as much as possible. Vastly struggles to break free from lineman who gain a hold of him.

Coverage:

He moves well in general getting to his spot quickly. He can have tight hips giving up speed in man coverage. Doesn't have the quickness to keep up with good athletes. Best suited to cover less athletic TEs and RBs. Can have spotty zone awareness. Follows QBs eyes well but struggles with route recognition. Can get flat footed wtih 2 receivers in his zone.

Against The Run:

Struggles to maintain leverage, prefers to stay in space and plug holes. Shows good range moving along the line and getting outside when needed. Typically takes good attack angles but sometimes takes himself out of the play. Has enough length to stay off blockers, greatly struggles to shed blocks if lineman grips him. He is a fairly good tackler but always tackles high. He seems to be too impatient at times and plugs the wrong lane for the RB or too quickly reacts to read option plays.
