PITT

A powerful and technically proficient road grader who is an adequate athlete. Well developed student with good football IQ. Punch is top class. A mauler in every sense of the word. Excellent base to work from. Pass blocking is only surpassed by the run blocking.

Weaknessess

Limited athlete that has some issues with speed rushers. Position limited to tackle so no guard experience at all. Could be limited by scheme as well to a power man blocking scheme although he has experience in wide zone sets from 2020.

Big Picture

Christensen profiles as a Day 3 selection that could play a swing tackle role. With some development time, he could pinch hit for a few starts here and there if everything goes right. The athletic profile is too limited but he is well developed. The technique will be his calling card in the NFL. He could kick inside to guard as well given his size even if he hasn't played that position.

Athleticism:

6.92

7.25

A better athlete than he's given credit for. Shows adequate foot quickness when he's on the move. Bend is there and has a nice base to anchor from. Lateral agility isn't the best but it is serviceable. Not the most explosive twitched up athlete for the position. Plays with great balance and is well connected from upper to lower half i.e. one isn't too out of whack in comparison to the other. Could stand to improve play strength a touch as he tends to stand his ground rather than to bully people off the ball.

Big Play Ability

A domint run blocker when he's in line or when he has to pull even if he doesn't have quite the necessary foot speed. Knows where to go and which defenders to target when moving to the second level. Adjusts to the defender very well when in moving around. Has very good spatial awareness. If football doesn't work out, he can be a boxer with the heavy hands he possesses. Once he locks on, it's game, set, and match in most cases.

Pass Blocking:

6.92

Fires into pass set quickly for a guy with his power driven legs. Protects the corner with good enough leverage due to his technique, rather than outstanding athleticism. Mirrors the pass rusher well and doesn't let them get by often. Strong lower half allows him to sit and anchor his base but has been seen giving up the inside move against quicker pass rushers. The same hands show up in the pass game as it does in the run game. Footwork is great in this regard.

Tough minded and extremely coachable as a testament to OL coach Jeff Grimes' development ability. Consistent from sp to sp with very little dropoff in play. A road grader at the tackle position.

Great communicator and he handles combition blocks very well with teammates. Position versatility is limited as he's only played left tackle through his career. Football IQ is high level. Quickly diagnoses any defense and adjusts his blocking as necessary.
