Strengths

Evans is a good athlete with twitch-like lateral agility. He is quick in and out of cuts, which allows for him to break tackles at the second level. He has good explosiveness in the hole, which allows for him to pick positive yards more times than not. His elusiveness and unique ability to cut makes him a serious threat in the open field. He possesses good patience at the line of scrimmage and allows for blocks to set up in front of him. He is a legit threat in the pass game. He has great hands and can run a variety of routes from any position on the field . He is a strong and willing blocker in pass protection. He does a great job of engaging the defender at the line of scrimmage and creating time for the quarterback.

Weaknessess

Evans does not possess that home run hitting second gear. He is weak in the hole, which causes him to get stuffed at the line of scrimmage at times. His pad level is high at times. He has a tendency to be indecisive at the line scrimmage. He struggles absorbing contact and staying on his feet. His steep decline in production from 2016 and 2017 to now is concerning. He was suspended for ""academic"" reasons in 2019, which raises red flags on his character. He was buried on the depth chart his senior year.

Big Picture

Evans is a good athlete with a lot of upside. His cutting ability is smooth and effortless. His ability to change direction, makes him a nightmare in the open space. He possesses good vision and patience that allows for his blocks to develop. He is an exciting receiving threat. He can line up in the back field or on the line and be effective as a pass catcher due to his strong hands. He is gritty and a strong pass protector. However, he is weak and indecisive at times in the hole. This caused many negative plays at Michigan. He also does not possess burner speed. His lack of production in his final seasons as a wolverine, has teams wondering if he can ever return to his 2017 form. Additionally, his academic suspension in 2019 raises red flags on his character. He is a developmental back, who is suited best for a one cut and go type scheme. He projects as a solid complimentary piece as a 3rd down back in the pass games in a running back by committee offense. If Evans can put his off the field issues behind him, he could be a late day 3 steal for a team that will want to regain his form that was once seen from him at Michigan.

Evans is a willing and capable blocker in passing situations. He has the mirroring ability to keep defenders in front of him. He engages the defender at the point of attack and utilizes great hand placement to drive the defender. He was not asked to lead block at Michigan, but based on his success as a pass blocker...He would be a solid lead blocker as well.
