Strengths

This is a very stout running back, who plays with great patience and balance. He is a strong runner, who still has enough speed to break a big play. Great cutting ability and is top tier one cut runner. Can put his foot in the ground and cut on a dime, then still be able to explode through the hole. Fantastic in pass protection and is probably the best blocking RB in this class. He is always willing to do the dirty work and shows great effort when blocking. Plays with that dog mentality that you love to see in a player.

Weaknessess

Not a very versatile player. His team didn't throw to the running backs much, so he isn't very reliable in that area. Route running takes a hit too, because of little opportunity. He will definitely need to show that he can be useful in the pass game, before he can be trusted as a three down back. Doesn't have great top end speed. Has enough to break off a big play, just not enough to pull away from defenders.

Big Picture

Carter is a powerful running back, who eats up yards with his physicality and one cut running style. He is a very patient runner, who can sit in the backfield and attack when he sees a hole open. He is excellent in pass protection, which is a highly valued skill for a rookie and should help him see the field sooner than you might expect. Runs with great balance and is very difficult to bring down, you definitely cannot arm tackle him. His team didn't throw much to their RBs, so he will need to prove himself as a receiver. His style should fit most offenses, because he can a bit of everything as a runner. Has big play ability, but does lack in top end speed. However, a good combine and showcase game performance, could really help him rise up on some teams big boards.

Not the most athletic running back, but is overall very good. Can show great burst and has the ability to pull away from defenders when needed. More of a one cut RB, he is very patient and can look at the whole line to find a hole. He has excellent balance and can bounce off contact, to continue the play.Always falls forward, he is very good at minimizing bad plays

Great field vision, he is a very patent runner and is able to find the hole and make the appropriate cut. He really excels in this area, because he runs with a lot of power and is good racking up YAC. He is a combination of power and speed, so he will fit in most offenses. He is usually a one cut runner, but has fantastic vision and will extend the play if the opportunity arises. Very good at diagnosing plays and attacking the defense in their weakest spot.

Receiving:

7.3

An average receiver, but throwing to RBs is not a big part of the offense and he doesn't get a lot of opportunities. Shows good catching ability when the opportunity comes and is able to react to quickly, no matter of the pass location. Doesn't run many routes, but what he does run is done well. It depends on the player covering him, whether he gets good separation or not. He is a problem for linebackers, but defensive backs don't usually have trouble covering him.

Very impressive in pass protection and he is never afraid to do the work. He is an extremely tough blocker and is always willing to initiate contact. Not great as a lead blocker, but it isn't something he does much, so I think it's just he isn't comfortable with it. Blocks well in space and always knows his assignments, though he might whiff from time to time. Overall he brings a lot as a blocker and is one of the better pass protectors in the past few years.
