Strengths
Bushman has the ideal size for a receiving tight end. He has a great burst off the line for his size. He possesses decent straight line speed. He has elite hands and has the ability to come down with every catch, especially in traffic. This is due to his large catch radius. Additionally, he has a 50/50 ball mentality and is elite at the catch point. This turns 50/50 balls into 75/25. His vertical paired with his ability to high point the football makes him a huge red zone threat. He showed flashes of brilliance after the catch. He showed he possesses some wiggle and ability to pick up extra yards. He is a willing blocker, who plays angry. He is very versatile. He can line up anywhere and be effective as a pass catcher.
Weaknessess
Bushman is a liability at times as a blocker. He struggles as in line blocker. He loses leverage by standing up and does not use his legs to drive defenders. He struggles in space as a blocker and whiffs often. He tends to catch defenders rather than engage the defender first, causing him to lose leverage. He struggles getting his hands inside on the defender to create leverage. He plays weak at times for his frame. He needs to be more aggressive in order to block physical defensive ends. Bushman struggles to create any sort of seperation from the defender. Due to his age, his ceiling is concerning. Also, his achilles injury raises a red flag on whether he will return to his old form or will he be limited mobility wise.
Big Picture
Bushman is a true receiving tight end with good size and a great catch radius. He has good speed and burst that allows him to line up anywhere on the field and be effective as a pass catcher. He has elite ball skills and can come down with any football thrown his way. His strong hands and ability to high point the football at the catch points makes him a legit red zone threat in the NFL. He flashed ability to pick up yards after the catch, but his route tree is limited due to his ineffectiveness to create any separation. Although Bushman is a willing blocker, he has to improve dramatically as a blocker. His lack of physicality at the line of scrimmage and his poor blocking technique causes him to lose leverage and get beat often in both run and pass blocking situations. Bushman has the potential to be a solid complimentary piece in a multiple tight end system. Teams can deploy all over the field due to his ability to catch the ball in traffic, which allows him to make plays from anywhere. However, he will likely only be deployed on passing downs due to his struggles as a blocker. Bushman will be a late day 3 pick and has potential to make an immediate impact in the red zone.
