Strengths

Purdy's arm strength is good but not elite, and that will lead to some underthrown balls outside the numbers or bad throws into tight windows that will turn into interceptions at the next level. Purdy always wants to extend or give the play a chance, leading to some forced balls into double coverage or bad decisions while under pressure. He is of a smaller stature so I have a hard time believing Brock Purdy is really 6'1". While Purdy is athletic enough to make people miss in college, I question whether his level of athleticism will be enough to make similar plays in the NFL. He also rarely, if ever, took snaps from under center, which won't be good for an NFL projection.

Weaknessess

Purdy is at his best when improvising inside or outside of the pocket. He is a talented thrower who excels at evading pressure and extending plays while keeping his eyes downfield for any wide receivers who break open. Purdy is also a natural leader and competitor, at times willing Iowa State back into games in the 3rd and 4th quarters. He is a natural athlete who can throw off-platform with ease and make some plays on the ground. His decision-making is also rock solid, as he doesn't put the ball in danger often. Purdy is accurate at all three levels and excels when working within the intermediate range, reading a zone coverage and throwing the ball into tight windows.

Purdy is a good athlete for the quarterback position. He excels when changing directions in small and tight areas, allowing him to move around the pocket and evade most rushers and big hits. He can move pretty well and while he doesn't have elite speed, he has enough of it to be a factor in the run game. His good flexibility in his hips and upperbody allow him to throw from a lot of different angle and use a variety of movements to avoid rushers.
