Bowl fans are shaking their heads over this one. The oddsmakers started this line at close to 20. Just because both teams were second in their respective divisions doesn’t make for a good match-up on paper. The Knights score a lot of points. While their defense isn’t great, UCF is able to outscore a lot of their opponents. Marshall has been inconsistent in 2019. They have had good performances such as the 36-31 upset of C-USA champion Florida Atlantic. Then they have had some stinkers like the 24-13 losses to Middle Tennessee and Charlotte.
The Degenerate Menace Says: In looking at their like opponents this year: Against Florida Atlantic, UCF won by 34 and Marshall by 5. Cincinnati beat UCF by 3 and Marshall by 38. These two results alone make one wonder about the comparison of these two teams. The only thing to really be concerned with is if UCF would be up to playing in a game like this.
