Blitzalytics Analysis
Line Utah (-7) Over/Under 55 Against the Spread - Utah (9-3) Texas (6-6)
Disappointment surrounds this game as the Utah Utes went from having a spot in the College Football Playoff to a New Year’s Eve Bowl. Texas folded under its high expectations to a 7-5 record as a middle-tier BIG-12 team. When Texas is on offense, it is strength against strength as the Longhorns are one of the better throwing teams while Utah’s defense is Top 5. On the opposite side, the Longhorn defense is awful, especially against the pass. One can presume that this is a result of the tremendous amount of injuries they have seen. Utah has had a very balanced offense on their way to an 11-win season.
The Degenerate Menace Says: One has to weigh the impressive injury report for Texas with the fact that Utah should be adequately disappointed after a deflating loss to Oregon in the PAC-12 Championship. Texas exploited this fact last year when they beat Georgia in the Sugar Bowl after the Bulldogs SEC Championship loss. The computer thinks that with the injuries and the fact that Utah still has something to prove that they should dispatch Texas.
Predicted Score: Utah 35 - Texas 23
