Blitzalytics Analysis

Line Auburn (-7) Over/Under 53.5 Against the Spread - Minnesota (7-5) Auburn (9-3)

Both teams are going in opposite directions in this match-up at the Outback Bowl. Minnesota, who accomplished all manner of superlatives this year, had a shot to make it to the BIG-10 Championship Game. This dream was destroyed at the hands of Wisconsin in the last game of the season. Auburn, on the other hand, finished their season by eliminating the arch-rival Crimson Tide from Playoff contention in the finale. Minnesota’s offense has found new life this year. It will face a defense that allowed a high powered LSU offense only 23 points in Baton Rouge.

The Degenerate Menace Says: I would like to point to the schedule strength in this match-up. Auburn’s is #2 according to Sagarin while Minnesota’s in 61. The fact that Auburn finished their schedule at 9-3 while playing eight teams that are going to bowl games (including four that will play in the Playoff or a New Year’s Six bowl) will make them battle-tested. I think the Auburn defense plus the fact that Minnesota will be down after losing a shot at winning their division will give the Tigers a distinct edge.

Prediction: Auburn 31 - Minnesota 17
