Week 12 NFL Power Rankings: Risers & Fallers

It’s weird to think that the thrilling Monday Night Football game between the Kansas City Chiefs and LA Rams, already regarded as an instant classic, had no effect on the Blitz Power Rankings. The Rams’ historic 54-51 victory over the Chiefs kept them at 2nd and 3rd, respectively. That should speak volume about how well the New Orleans Saints are playing right now as they blasted the Eagles at home 48-7. Despite no movement in the top-3, there were some big movers throughout the rest of this week’s rankings.

Risers:

Indianapolis Colts

Week 12 Ranking: 14 (+7)

Make it four in a row for the Colts, as Andrew Luck was nearly perfect (23/29, 3 TD) despite going up against a defense that entered the game allowing the fewest points per game in the league. Indy also did not allow a sack for a fifth straight game, although they lost starting center Ryan Kelly to a knee injury and will be out for at least a couple weeks. The Colts will look to stay hot next week when the Dolphins come to town.

Dallas Cowboys

Week 12 Ranking: 13 (+5)

Two straight road wins for Dallas has them back in the playoff hunt at 5-5 in the muddled NFC wild card picture. More importantly, the Thanksgiving Day match up against Colt McCoy and the Washington Redskins, who unfortunately just lost Alex Smith for the year, gives them the opportunity to take over the division lead. The NFC East winner may very well be the only playoff team to come out of the division, so the “must-win” mentality certainly continues this week for Dallas.

Seattle Seahawks

Week 12 Ranking: 10 (+4)

Any team that beats a desperate Aaron Rodgers’ led team deserves a ton of credit. Seattle overcame a slow start last Thursday to beat the Packers in thrilling fashion, improving to 5-5 in the process and putting themselves into position for a chance at an NFC wild card spot. Another positive note from the game was the emergence of Doug Baldwin, who says he is finally feeling fully healthy, as evidenced by his 7 catches for 52 yards and a touchdown.

Fallers:

Cincinnati Bengals

Week 12 Ranking: 17 (-4)

The Bengals are so good at being average, it’s almost impressive. After their strong 4-1 start to the season, Cincinnati is just 1-4 since after a loss to the Baltimore Ravens in rookie Lamar Jackson’s debut. Without AJ Green, it’s been tough for Andy Dalton and Co. to strike a similar level of efficiency, especially with their defense constantly struggling to get off the field.

Tennessee Titans

Week 12 Ranking: 18 (-3)

Coming off a statement win against New England just a week ago, the Titans fell back to reality after a 38-10 loss in Indianapolis. To say the defense was disappointing would be an understatement as they could not figure out how to slow down Andrew Luck all afternoon. One silver lining is the Titans may have dodged a bullet with the news that Marcus Mariota only suffered a stinger (originally believed to be a recurring nerve issue from earlier this season). Nevertheless, Tennessee drops to third in the AFC South and two games back of Houston.

Philadelphia Eagles

Week 12 Ranking: 19 (-3)

Being on this side of the list for two weeks in a row is never a good sign, but that’s what happens when you lose to a division rival at home (who you were expected to beat) and then get blown out of the water 48-7 in New Orleans, both of which were in front of national TV audiences. Gut check time in Philadelphia with the NFC East still up for the taking.

*Battle of the Basement: The Oakland Raiders swapped places with the Arizona Cardinals at the bottom of the rankings thanks to their 23-21 win over the Cardinals on Sunday. ,
