Class Breakdown
Overall this is the deepest draft class I have seen in a long time. Unfortunately, there are so many good prospects, that I think you’re going to see some surprising names slip in the draft.
Offense: The offensive pool of players is absolutely loaded with talent and is a big change of pace, quarterbacks are the position with the least amount of prospects. The skill positions, however, are a different story, this class is going to be historic for its wide receiver talent. (Think 1983 QB class) The offensive class is so talented at the top, that not much has changed for me here. I can’t get over the fact that Jonathan Taylor had multiple 2,000yrd seasons, so he is bumped up to my number 1 RB. Justin Jefferson overtakes the number 5 spot, he really doesn’t have a big weakness in his game and is moving up a lot of draft boards. Then my TE class has had some reshuffling, Trautman is just such a superior athlete than Cole Kmet that he takes the top spot.
Defense: Defensively there is talent across the board. Every position has a ton of prospects and it’s going to be very interesting to see where people fall. I only changed two positions, but they were big changes. To me, the linebackers are most intriguing because this is the most diverse group of LBs you will see. Isaiah Simmonds is the top of the class and can do anything you need, then there are players like Kenneth Murray who is your prototypical thumper of an LB. What changed is Jordyn Brooks jumps into my rankings at number, because the more time that goes by, the more I like him. Think London Fletcher with Brooks, not a big LB but he is a tackling machine. Patrick Queen falls out of the top 5, he just doesn’t have it factor to me. As far as edge rushers go, there are a lot of changes. K’lavon Chaisson jumps to number 2 and AJ Epenesa falls out of the top 5. Marlon Davidson goes to number 4 and Bradlee Anae takes Epenesa’s spot at 5. Anae is a relentless pass rusher and has the motor you need to be successful.
I really think this is going to be the most exciting draft in a very long time, not just because there is literally nothing else happening in the world, but because of the amount of talent, you will see.. There are several extremely talented players that don’t make my top 5, but in any other year would not only be on my list, but they would also be near the top. I truly believe this is going to be a draft that has most late-round picks make a sudden impact and every team will find gems at important positions for their team. This year makes the term sleeper into a relative term because there will be 1st round talent probably fall to at least Round 3. I really can’t wait to see how the cards fall… and how many technical issues there are!
