This Sunday the Dolphins (0-3) host the Los Angeles Chargers (1-2) and currently are a 3 score underdog. Although the Dolphins are up against yet another tough opponent this Sunday offers another chance to get better and develop as a team.
This game offers a chance for Josh Rosen to build on his first start as the Dolphins starting quarterback in which he played much better than the numbers say and his first week of full starting quarterback reps in practice which should equate to more chemistry with the wide receivers.
This game also offers a chance for WR Preston Williams to improve as he has all the physical tools to be a WR1 on the team but he has failed to do the main thing required of him which is catching the ball on a consistent basis. I will also be watching newly acquired DE Taco Charlton as he played sparingly but impressed in his first game against his old team including recording his first sack as a Dolphin.
Other things to watch is if Kenyon Drake bounces back from that costly fumble in the red zone against the Cowboys and how Xavier Howard covers Keenan Allen following a career day from Allen in last weeks loss to the Texans. Howard needs to bounce back as he allowed Amari Cooper to have a nice day against him including 2 TD catches.
Although I do feel the Chargers will win the game to continue this dreadful start to the season for the rebuilding Fins this game is an opportunity for this team to gain continuity together and see if they can get closer to a very important question which is “Can Josh Rosen be the franchise quarterback going forward” Dolphin fans are watching this closely as they all should because this rebuild goes a lot quicker if that question ends with a “Yes”.
