Bracketology based on ADP Value: https://fantasyfootballcalculator.com/adp/half-ppr

Premise:

What does everyone want to brag about after their fantasy football draft? Simply put, you want your league mates to know who you stole. You want to boast about your late-round sleeper. How you got Alvin Kamara in the double digits or George Kittle with your last pick. Everyone wants to optimize their draft value. Therefore, in the spirit of March Madness, I have created a bracket to determine which players hold the most value at their current average draft position (ADP).

To accomplish this, I used the top 68 players who were not QBs according to fantasyfootballcalculator.com. I did not include QBs because this position is usually drafted too high in the early rounds. The format I based it on is a 12-team 0.5-point-per-reception league. The top four picks were the one seeds (Barkley, Elliot, Kamara, and McCaffery), the 2 seeds were players with mid 1st round ADP (Bell, Gurley, Gordon, and Hopkins), and so on. The 16 seeds were decided by a ”play-in” round by the 61st-68th ranked player according to their ADP. Then we just played out the brackets.

For example, one bracket could be: 12 seed Mark Ingram with a 4.11 grade against 3 seed Joe Mixon at 2.05. Then, either one of the listed contributors or myself picked which one is better value. For the Elite Eight, we took a vote from all of the contributors to see who made the Final Four. Through it all, the contributions allowed me to find some significant findings in value.

This was a lot of fun, so there is a downloaded blank bracket so you can fill it qout yourself. Maybe you’ll do it differently. You could just do players in the double digit rounds and see where the deep value is. Or perhaps you just value players differently and your final four looks different. Maybe you just want to do WRs. If you do a bracket, please tweet them at me @connors_david.

The Fantasy Value Tourney!

The bracket is above, but here is a detailed breakdown of every matchup to give a better idea of how the remaining players reached the Final Four. I also list who picked each winner with their Twitter handle, so if you disagree with their pick, you can let them know about it.

Fun Nuggets and Factoids

This section will be a few fascinating things that were discovered as the brackets played out:

-Three out of the four No. 4 seeds dropped in the first round

  • Late first round and early second round players were not considered great value

-A few 12/13 seeded teams made a run

  • There is value at the end of the 4th round/beginning of the 5th

-Antonio Brown and Keenan Allen are still considered fringe number 1 receivers even though they are sliding to back of the second/top of the third

-Three out of four of the 1 seeds are in the Final Four

-A top RB is a ginormous advantage

-Keenan Allen, at the top of the 3rd, is a great value considering he beat out a 1 seed to make the Final Four.

Seeding Casualties

This is a list of players that are still good value but were a victim of unfortunate seeding.

-15 Chris Godwin (5.12)

  • Had to faced Bell in round 1

-Julian Edelman (5.09)

  • Got Davante Adams in the round of 32

-Cooper Kupp (4.02)

  • Got Adam Thielen in the 1st round

-Joe Mixon (2.06)

  • He had to face the great value of Mark Ingram who is falling to the last fourth

So Who Won?

If you want to find out who will win the fantasy football draft value brackets, you will have to tune into the Blitzalytics fantasy football podcast, The Fantasy Hotseat! The hosts (Cody Manning, Robert Robertson, George Haraktsis) and a special guest (yours truly) are each going represent a Final Four player and debate on the remaining matchups. Once we decide who are the finalists, we are going to put a poll on Twitter and turn it to you, Blitz Nation, to decide the winner. So if you want to have a voice on the winner, follow me and @Blitzalytics to vote. And finally, tune in to the Fantasy Hotseat to hear a HUGE announcement I am going to make at the end of the podcast. I will also make the announcement on Twitter after the podcast drops.

One Last Thing

Finally, thank you to everyone who took the time to read my article or check out the bracket. Even if you only skimmed, or just checked out the bracket, I appreciate any bit of your time.
