STRENGTHS
Josey is a high motor player. He is always hawking to the ball. He is a tackling machine. When he is able to shoot gaps, he is able to deliver a boom. When blitzing Josey wins with effort and persistence to get to the point of contact. He loves football, spends his time studying so that in game he can play with his eyes.
WEAKNESSES
A limited athlete that has to solely depend on instincts. He struggles to move laterally and change directions to chase the ball. Doesn’t have a lot of moves when blitzing. Is mismatched when he has to run with a back out of the backfield, or cover tight ends up the seam.
BIG PICTURE
Josey Jewell is a player that wins with effort. He is relentless on his pursuit to the ball. Jewell is a film junkie, who spends his time watching film. This allows him to diagnose plays before they occur, allowing him to make up for his limited athleticism. He is at his best when he is allowed to come full speed down hill and shoot gaps in the run game. Jewell will be a special teams star, due to his ability to motor to the ball. While limited he will probably be able to fill in as a 2 down linebacker. Jewell projects as a late round prospect.
