With Week 13 now officially completed, there were a lot of games that had a lot of upset and hopefully you guys survived. As always I will discuss the rules for a survivor pool. It is a weekly contest where people select one team straight up per week to win their game. If a team chosen won, then they advance to the next week, but keep in mind that the team chosen can’t be used for the rest of the season. If a team that they chose for that week loses, well they are eliminated from the pool. So now that the rules are set it is time for me to give my Top 5 options, a trap pick, and a survivor pick I would have made for the week if it was still alive for Week 14.
1. Dallas Cowboys vs Houston Texans
I mean is there really a debate on which is the easiest choice to make via survivor. You can maybe convince me the Chiefs as the Broncos are a dysfunctional mess right now. The Texans are openly tanking and not caring this season. Dallas destroyed the Indianapolis Colts last week and if they can score 54 against the Colts, I wonder what they will do against the Texans. So if you have them available, take them this week.
2. Kansas City Chiefs at Denver Broncos
Another no stress choice to make. The Chiefs are the best and most functional team in this division and the Broncos are the polar opposite. Kansas City should handle business here this week, even if it is a divisional game and they are not the home team.
3. Seattle Seahawks vs Carolina Panthers
Carolina has given up this season since they fired Matt Rhule earlier in the season. Now they granted QB Baker Mayfield his release and it is not looking good for their chances of making the playoffs. Seattle is a way better team on paper and should take care of business against a weaker opponent that has to travel from the east coast to the west coast.
4. Cincinnati Bengals vs Cleveland Browns
I don’t care that this is a divisional game, the Browns are still a bad team. They only won last week because the Texans are tanking the season. The Browns defense is abysmal along with being poorly coached. Deshaun Watson looks rusty and it is clear he is not going to be like the old Deshaun until probably next season. The Bengals offense is getting healthier and should just score all over them. The Bengals are a nice pick to make here in survivor for this week.
5. Las Vegas Raiders at Los Angeles Rams
Look, I have been very critical of the Las Vegas Raiders this season, but I can’t deny that they are a sneakily good pick in survivor. They may have a horrible head coach in Josh McDaniels, but the Rams have just been derailed by so many injuries. The Raiders on the other hand are getting healthier and both Hunter Renfrow and Darren Waller could be back this week. It may be in primetime and the Rams are the home team, but the risk could absolutely be worth the reward in this Tank Game in the Tournament for the 1st Overall Pick. Also if Baker Mayfield starts this week I like the Raiders even more. There is legit no other week to want to pick the Raiders this season.
Trap Survivor Pick: Buffalo Bills vs New York Jets
This was tough taking a trap survivor choice as there are a lot of good survivor choices this week. I decided to go with the Buffalo Bills to the New York Jets. I get the Bills want revenge, but the Jets are a better team with Mike White as the quarterback then Zach Wilson is. Plus it is a divisional game against two teams that will likely be in the playoffs this year. There are so many better options to choose in survivor, don’t take the Bills in survivor.
Record (5-8) - Week 1: Washington Commanders, Week 2: New England Patriots, Week 3: Buffalo Bills, Week 4: Los Angeles Chargers, Week 5 Tennessee Titans, Week 6: San Francisco 49ers, Week 7: Green Bay Packers Week 8: San Francisco 49ers, Week 9: Cincinnati Bengals, Week 10: Las Vegas Raiders, Week 11: Buffalo Bills, Week 12: Los Angeles Chargers, Week 13: Cleveland Browns
Who I would of went with for my Survivor Pick for Week 13: Las Vegas Raiders at Los Angeles Rams
I can’t choose the Dallas Cowboys sadly as I used them in Week 8. I can’t choose the Kansas City Chiefs either as I already used them in Week 10. The Seahawks have a nice matchup in Week 18 against the Rams and I would have waited to hold off on picking them. This came down to the Cincinnati Bengals or the Las Vegas Raiders. So I made this pick looking at the future games of each team. The Bengals face the Buccaneers, Patriots, Bills, and Ravens. The Raiders on the other hand face the Patriots, Steelers, 49ers, and Chiefs. Both don’t have great future value, but the Bengals face the Buccaneers who are overrated and a Ravens team likely without Lamar Jackson as the QB. I would have been risky here and taken the Las Vegas Raiders as my survivor pick for this week.
Record (9-4) - Week 1: Tennessee Titans, Week 2: Cleveland Browns, Week 3: Philadelphia Eagles, Week 4: New York Giants, Week 5: Denver Broncos, Week 6: Los Angeles Rams, Week 7: Tampa Bay Buccaneers, Week 8: Dallas Cowboys, Week 9: New England Patriots, Week 10: Kansas City Chiefs, Week 11: Washington Commanders, Week 12: Miami Dolphins, Week 13: Baltimore Ravens
