Well now that was a strange Week 1 for survivors. There were a lot of games that had a lot of upset and hopefully you guys survived. As always I will discuss the rules for a survivor pool. It is a weekly contest where people select one team straight up per week to win their game. If a team chosen won, then they advance to the next week, but keep in mind that the team chosen can’t be used for the rest of the season. If a team that they chose for that week loses, well they are eliminated from the pool.
So now that the rules are set it is time for me to give my Top 5 options, a trap pick, and a survivor pick I would have made for the week if it was still alive.
1. Los Angeles Rams vs Atlanta Falcons
The Los Angeles Rams have extra time to prepare for this game. They are more talented then the Falcons are and have different end goals. The Rams are looking to repeat and win another superbowl, where in the case of the Falcons there tanking to help with there rebuild. Plus an east coast team going west coast is a great choice to use for survivor picks, especially when the away team is the weaker team. The Rams are definitely a top pick in survivor for this week.
2. Cleveland Browns vs New York Jets
You know I am jumping on the If Joe Flacco starts for the Jets train taking the team there facing. Flacco stinks and the Jets have no idea what they are doing. The Jets o-line is abysmal and Cleveland’s defense should man handle the Jets. Bonus points as well for Cleveland being the home team in this game.
3. Cincinnati Bengals at Dallas Cowboys
With Dak Prescott and OT Tyron Smith being injured, along with Mike McCarthey still being the head coach, they are absolutely going to be a team picked against in survivor. The Bengals are going to want to win this week as well after that strange performance against the Pittsburgh Steelers. But the Bengals should take care of business against the Dallas Cowboys.
4. Green Bay Packers vs Chicago Bears
Look I know Chicago upset the Bears last week, but it was a bad weather game. Plus the Bears don’t face an unknown in Trey Lance, they got to go against Aaron Rodgers who is debatably the best QB in the NFL. Now if the Packers on the offensive line are healthy they probably would have been number 1 on this list. Take the packers and don’t worry about them in survivor.
5. Denver Broncos vs Houston Texans
The Broncos would be higher on the list if I was not so concerned with the coaching. They should rebound in this game as the home team facing the Houston Texans who are super overrated and only tied due to the Colts playing down to competition. The Texans were sloppy last week and with this game being in Denver it is an easier choice to go with the Broncos this week.
Trap Survivor Pick: Pittsburgh Steelers vs New England Patriots
The Steelers just beat the Bengals who last year represented the AFC in the Superbowl. However this game is very fishy because the Steelers always have a tough time beating the Patriots when it truly mattered or in a convincing way. Along with TJ Watt not playing this defense is going to be a mess. Just look at last year when he was hurt, that defense did not play well. Plus the offense to me did not impress and I am not a fan of their offensive coordinator Matt Canada. Yes I am saying this with a team that may not have Mac Jones ready for Week 2 and has two hacks in Matt Patricia and Joe Judge running the offense. But I really like New England in this matchup and knowing history I would stay away from picking Pittsburgh in survivor anytime they face New England.
Record (0-1) - Week 1: Washington Commanders
Who I would of went with for my Survivor Pick for Week 2: Cleveland Browns vs New York Jets
I was eliminated in week 1 due to the Tennessee Titans losing to the New York Giants. Now I will still be making survivor picks as if I was still alive in my pool giving my opinion on who I would have gone with for that week. I don’t want to go anywhere near Denver, unless Hackett can prove himself to be a better coach. Green Bay to me there are plenty of weeks to pick them in survivor. The Bengals I would save until later in the season and if they were the home team then they probably would have been a higher pick. It came down to the Cleveland Browns and Los Angeles Rams. The Browns are more of a wildcard then the Rams are, but with the Jets starting Flacco the Browns would have been my pick for this week. I would have taken the Cleveland Browns this week as my survivor pick.
