With Week 6 now officially completed, there were a lot of games that had a lot of upset and hopefully you guys survived. As always I will discuss the rules for a survivor pool. It is a weekly contest where people select one team straight up per week to win their game. If a team chosen won, then they advance to the next week, but keep in mind that the team chosen can’t be used for the rest of the season. If a team that they chose for that week loses, well they are eliminated from the pool.
So now that the rules are set it is time for me to give my Top 5 options, a trap pick, and a survivor pick I would have made for the week if it was still alive.
1. Las Vegas Raiders vs Houston Texans
Easy. The Raiders are coming off a bye week, are the home team, and are a bit more competent than the Houston Texans are. Well maybe they're equal now that Jack Easterby is no longer a part of the Texans organization, but on the field there is still plenty of work that needs to be done as their team is not great. The Raiders for week 7 are a great choice to utilize in survivor pools.
2. Tampa Bay Buccaneers at Carolina Panthers
The Buccaneers have been a mess for the past few weeks. They even studied the Mike Tomlin tradition last week on how to play down to competition. The Buccaneers should have won that game with all the injuries Pittsburgh has and having an incomptent offensive coordinator. The Buccaneers are facing a Panthers team that just traded their best offensive player and are clearly punting the season. If the Buccaneers lose this game, then they should really think about blowing it up.
3. Miami Dolphins vs Pittsburgh Steelers
No word yet on who is starting QB for Miami. But honestly, Who cares? They should beat a Steelers team with a ton of injuries and a terrible offensive coordinator. Miami should take care of business this week, especially being the home team.
4. New England Patriots vs Chicago Bears
I am not a big fan of primetime games in Survivor Pools, but this is an exception. I still may not 100% trust the Patriots, but this week is an exception. Especially as the Bears are terrible. I would not sweat taking New England this week.
5. New York Jets at Denver Broncos
This is a bit riskier as this game is in Denver. However with no word on who will start at QB, this made this pick intriguing. If Wilson starts, then he is playing injured. Also the Broncos are a downgrade due to having an incomptent coach who will likely be gone at the end of the NFL season. With the Jets on a hot streak, they would be a great choice to use for this week.
Trap Survivor Pick - Green Bay Packers at Washington Commanders
I really can't trust the Green Bay Packers, especially with the way that they have been playing the past few weeks. Yes you could say that this is the Commanders and they ruin almost everything they touch, however this is not a Carson Wentz QB led team. Taylor Heinicke will be starting at quarterback for Washington and he is an upgrade. Plus this game is in Washington and yes I know FedEx Field is a dump, but it is a big advantage point. Stay away from Green Bay and look at other options this week. This game is a trap.
Record (3-3) - Week 1: Washington Commanders, Week 2: New England Patriots, Week 3: Buffalo Bills, Week 4: Los Angeles Chargers, Week 5 Tennessee Titans, Week 6: San Francisco 49ers
Who I would of went with for my Survivor Pick for Week 7: Tampa Bay Buccaneers at Carolina Panthers
The Titans are too risky, so they are out. The Patriots are tempting, however due to it being Monday night football, I like to avoid prime time games. The Dolphins I think are a good choice as Pittsburgh stinks, but with no word yet on who is starting I am going to pass for now. This came down to the Las Vegas Raiders or Tampa Bay Buccaneers. The Raiders, while facing the Texans, still have a few choices later in the season and with all the injuries Tampa has, this could be the last opportunity to take them. So I would have taken the Buccaneers as my survivor pick.
Record (3-3) - Week 1: Tennessee Titans, Week 2: Cleveland Browns, Week 3: Philadelphia Eagles, Week 4: New York Giants, Week 5: Denver Broncos, Week 6: Los Angeles Rams
