Blitzalytics Analysis

Line New England (-5) Over/Under 44.5 Against the Spread - Tennessee (8-8) New

England (8-8)

It was a tale of two seasons for both of these teams in 2019. Tennessee had an absolutely putrid offense, averaging 11 points a game in weeks 2-6. Marcus Mariota was subsequently benched and replaced with Ryan Tannehill. The quarterback switch resulted in a jump to 30 PPG and a playoff berth. New England was unbelievable in the first half of the season, outscoring their opponents 250-61 in an undefeated eight-game stretch. However, when the schedule goes more difficult, the Pats finished 4-4 with only a +6 point differential.

The Degenerate Menace Says: This one is a tough one. On the one hand, New England looks down after a ridiculous loss to the Dolphins in the final week and Tennessee has played quite well since Tannehill took over the signal calling. On the other hand, this is the playoffs. New England is playing at home and the reason that Tannehill is in Tennessee is that he didn’t have much success in Miami when he had to play the Patriots twice. I think that New England is on the decline. However, in this particular game, the defense should carry the day for the Pats and I don’t think that Tennessee will be ready to compete.

Predicted Score: New England 28 - Tennessee 17
