A CB with explosive deep speed that lets him catch up and close on receivers at a consistent rate. He has good closing foot quickness that lets him come up underneath to make plays on ball carriers. Robinson is good in both man and zone coverage, but his best work is done in press man. Robinson gets his hands on WRs off the LOS and uses his quickness to maintain within a good reach of the receiver in coverage. This is an aggressive CB that will put his head down to make tackles on bigger ball carriers as well. Robinson has good ball skills and can produce effective play in the slot.
Weaknessess
Being able to high point the ball and make a play at a consistent rate was not present in his play. Robinson does not have the most fluid hips in coverage. Quick niched WRs were able gain separation off Robinson to create plays in space. Robinson does not have much power in his play strength. Less power resulted in him getting pushed to the side by much bigger WRs that could make blocks at a high level.
Big Picture
Aaron Robinson is a CB out of UCF that has fast speed to stay within WRs deep down the field. In intermediate routes, he was able to make diving swats on balls thrown in his direction. He was very aggressive throughout plays that he made at his time with the Knights in 2020. Robinson’s best ability is attacking WRs in press man situations. Robinson is highly successful here in press man because he is able to get his hands up on WRs as they release off the LOS. This is a CB that can be effective in zone coverage as well. Robinson is able to come up with quickness to make a play on the WR or the ball that is thrown in his general direction. That quickness also benefits him in playing off coverage. Being able to high point the ball at a consistent rate is a trait that he needs to improve on. At times, a turnover opportunity would slip away because Robinson miss timed the play. Robinson is a good tackler and will bring aggressiveness on every play. There is not a lot of power in his game which translates to bigger WRs being able to make blocks on him. Overall, Robinson is a versatile CB that can play at the outside or in the slot with quickness and speed.

There is good foot quickness that lets Robinson excel when a receiver is releasing off the LOS. Robinson has good lateral agility that shows when sliding in M/M coverage on quick slants and in routes. In his game, he has very good straight line and play speed that allows him to cover receivers deep down the field. At the POA, his balance is very good, and it lets him be aggressive in press situations. This is a CB with good play strength but will rely more on pure speed and technique. Not a lot of power in his game.

In press coverage situations he excels at the POA and getting his hands up on the receivers. Robinson will hand fight throughout routes but not too much to draw consistent PI calls. His best work is done in man coverage, but he can play in zone coverage at a good level. When playing off coverage, there is enough quickness to come up and cover receivers underneath. Robinson has good recovery speed and was usually stuck on his intended man in coverage. Robinson does not have the smoothest hips, but they are smooth enough to let him be a versatile CB that can play in the slot. Quicker WRs were able to make plays against Robinson.

Closing quickness was a big part of his game that let him be very successful in coverage and tackling his opponent in space. Robinson has some good ball skills but at times would miss time/jump at the ball in the air. He does not have the best high point ability but was able to swat down a few balls up in the air

This is not the most gifted tackling CB, but he certainly will not be a liability when attacking a ball carrier in space. Robinson can engage off of blockers but much bigger WRs were able to push him out of the way. He will take good pursuit angles when tackling low on bigger ball carriers to bring them down.

This is a very aggressive CB in all aspects of the game. He plays with a high confidence level but at times will be too aggressive and draw penalty calls. Robinson has a good motor and will be running at a good rate throughout the game.

Robinson was able to recognize some picks and cover the correct receiver releasing off the LOS. He does communicate with his teammates at a consistent rate on film. This is a CB that can be effective at the outside boundary or as a slot CB.
