Kaiir Elam has solid lateral agility, play strength, and can play with a lot of speed. He does a good job in both man to man and zone coverage. Elam has a quick recovery when he makes a mistake and has smooth hip fluidity. Elam has strong ball skills and has the ability to easily deflect passes. Elam does a great job getting to the high-point as well. Elam can be aggressive when he plays and at times can be very confident. He has strong communication skills and has strong awareness which helps with him recognizing offensive plays. He also has position versatility and can play at safety or cornerback. He must work on his foot quickness as it can get slow at times and he is very sloppy with his footwork. He needs to work on having a better posture as it heavily affects his balance. He struggles when he is in press coverage and looks lost at times. He can on occasion get sloppy with his hands. He must be a bit quicker on his closing quickness as he can at times be slow to react. Elam is not the best tackler as he has poor technique and does not hit players hard. He does not always engage with blocks and has a habit of taking terrible pursuit angles when trying to tackle players. He must work on being consistent as he has times where he looks like a shutdown corner and other times where he is a liability. Durability could be a concern as he suffered a knee injury during teh 2021 season. I have Kaiir Elam going in the second or third round of the 2022 NFL Draft.
