Team Fit

WAS

HOU

SEA

Exceptional athlete who can play with any offensive skill player. Possesses a good and lengthy frame to help combat bigger and stronger receivers. Plays his role on the outside very well and knows it. Very good ball skills and can close to the ball quickly. Controlled chaos as a defender. Equally adept in both man and zone coverages.

Weaknessess

Aggressiveness can be used against him in the form of overrunning the play and / or penalties. Can he use the length better against blockers? Wrong angles at times due to confidence in stopping the run. Offers limited versatility at this moment.

Big Picture

Gordon has vaulted himself into the first round conversation alongside teammate Trent McDuffie but he will likely settle as an early Day 2 selection in the second round due to the depth of the class. Can he expand his game to be both inside and outside? He compares to former Ohio State cornerback Kendall Sheffield.

Athleticism:

7.1

7.25

Explosive athlete that has the foot speed to hang with quicker receivers and backs. Lateral agility is among the top tier. He can quickly accelerate and decelerate depending on the situation. He's a smidge slower than teammate McDuffie but it is marginal. Could stand to get stronger to help combat against bigger receivers but plays with efficient chaos. Well balanced athlete who rarely gets beat off releases and doesn't get knocked off the path often.

Bigger and longer frame allows him to press at the line more effectively than smaller corners. Efficient in man coverage using his outstanding athletic ability along with quick diagnostics. Has the athleticism to recover when beat on deeper routes. Uses hands effectively to avoid penalties. Outstanding hip fluidity to turn and run on a dime. Allows for receivers to reveal their routes in zone before making the play using his great lateral quickness and football intelligence.

He doesn't often take wrong angles to the ball carrier and cuts them off at the point of attack. A willing and tough competitor who doesn't shy away from taking on blockers. Tackling fundamentals are above average and he loves contact but there have been a few missed tackles on his resume.

Above average football intelligence but has a few spots of misdiagnosis. He on occasion has trouble overrunning the play. Primarily played on the outside corner so versatility is somewhat muted. A very good communicator with teammates and able to pass off receivers to safety help on a consistent basis.
