Mario plays with speed when he is on the field. He has good lateral agility especially when getting in and out of position in coverage which helps his balance. Goodrich even showcases his flexibility in coverage. Mario is the sollid in zone coverage as he has the ability to close in space and allows little separation between him and the defender in press coverage. He has strong utilization with his hands when in coverage. He has solid closing quickness and strong ball skills when in coverage. It shows as well that he has the ability to get to the High-Point. He takes great angles in pursuit of offensive players, engaging with blockers, and is a great tackler. Mario has a strong technique and quick to where he has got to go to make the tackle. Goodrich has strong play recognition and can be a strong communicator on any defense.

Weaknessess

Mario is not the quickest with his feet as a result of his ankle injuries and doesn’t always play with a ton of strength. Goodrich is not the best in man to man coverage as he can get easily beaten while one on one. He has an ability to recover but has to do a better job recovering a little bit more quicker. Lacks hip fluidity when in coverage and looks stiff at times. His ability to get to the High-Point can get sloppy at times. Goodrich plays with a lot of aggression but he is not the most confident while in coverage. He is very consistent as a run supporter but not the most consistent in coverage. Goodrich is not the most versatile with his position.

Goodrich is not the most versatile with his position. Durability is a concern as he did suffer constant ankle injuries in 2019-2020. I see Mario Goodrich as either a late 2nd, 3rd, or early 4th round pick in the 2022 NFL Draft.
