PHI

A CB with athletic traits that grant him with good overall speed to cover receivers in both man and zone coverages. His hips are fluid enough to allow him to play as a slot corner and move laterally to attack receivers in space. Wildgoose can use his hands to jam WRs when they release off the LOS. Some WRs would get balance in press situations vs. Wildgoose. He was able to use his speed and quickness to fly up to tackle ball carriers underneath by attack below the ball carrier’s waist & knees.

Weaknessess

This is a CB that can get way too grabby when hand fighting WRs down the field. Wildgoose is not consistent enough in run support and at times would not fully commit on making a tackle on a ball carrier. Wildgoose would often be pushed to the side by blockers when engaging contact. The action of turning his head and playing the ball instead of the receiver needs to be more active in his game. He has some quickness but explosive playmaking WRs that can run fluid routes were able to beat him in the middle of the field.

Big Picture

Rachad Wildgoose is a CB out of Wisconsin that had a broken scapula that ended his 2020 season with the Badgers. Wildgoose has good overall speed and quickness that allows him to excel in his coverage situations. This is a versatile CB that has experience playing outside or in the slot. Wildgoose does use his hands well in press coverage situations but he can get too grabby while hand fighting receivers throughout the progression of a route. He can cover well in both man and zone coverage situations. However, Wildgoose must learn to utilize the action of turning his head and playing the ball in coverage. If he does not play the ball instead of the receiver, penalty calls will be drawn his way at the NFL level. His play needs to be more consistent as well. At times, Wildgoose would not fully commit on tackles and get blown right by. This is an athletic CB that can continue to develop but will need to buy totally in on the field or he will not have a long career in the NFL.

The ability to have closing quickness to fly up and make tackles is a part of his game. His closing quickness shows in coverage of shorter routes as well. Wildgoose does not have the best ball skills and needs to develop an ability to turn to and play the ball more. His ability to high point the ball needs to be an area of improvement as well.

Wildgoose is able to pursuit ball carriers at good tackling angles. He will get low and attack ball carriers’ legs to wrap them up underneath. He is not the most aggressive tackler and at times was not fully committed to making a tackle. When engaging with blockers, Wildgoose tends to get overpowered and pushed to the side.

A CB that is not a constant aggressive player. At times, Wildgoose was aggressive and at times he was non-existent. He plays with a good motor and confidence in coverage but in run support these traits are not constantly there. Wildgoose does not always play with high confidence especially when getting beat down the field in coverage.

Wildgoose was able to recognize plays when they unfolded and react with a good amount of quickness. This is a CB that can play in the slot or out on the boundary. There was not a whole lot of communication with his teammates and needs to be more evident.
