Team Fit

Brown has excellent top-end speed and the ability to close out routes when the ball is thrown underneath or deep. He is very reactive when the ball is in the air and looks back for the ball when he is in-phase on the receiver. His footwork and technique in man coverage is very well polished and his footwork keeps him with bigger, more physical receivers. Brown recognizes plays well and can come up in the run game when needed. He does a great job reading the QB in the pocket and is able to jump routes and make plays on the ball. He has shown glimpses of being scheme versatile in coverage but excels in man coverage, even when on an island. He always aligns himself in a position to make plays and has a football IQ to understand where to align as the in-game situation changes.

Weaknessess

Brown lacks the size and physicality that NFL scouts like to see in an NFL corner. He needs to add bulk in order to cover bigger WRs at the next level. Brown needs to improve his technique in zone coverage as well, despite his ability to read the QB. He struggles to reroute receivers on underneath routes and when using an off-hand jam technique in man coverage. Brown has also been an inconsistent tackler in the run game and sometimes struggles to fight off blocks.

Big Picture

Brown has the physical attributes to play corner at the next level. He has incredible speed, quickness, and acceleration in order to cover any route on the field. He has shown glimpses of greatness in man coverage when on an island, but will struggle against bigger, more physical receivers, especially bigger receivers running possession routes. Brown will fall in the draft due to his lack of size and lack of stats accumulated while at Oklahoma. Brown should be drafted simply because of his man coverage ability and quickness. He would be a strong fit at the NFL level as a nickel corner or a slot corner in passing sets. His ability to recognize routes would help him chase receivers through traffic. Tre Brown's draft ceiling will be as a late day three pick, however, there is a strong chance that Brown does not get drafted and has to find his way to the NFL as an undrafted signee. However, do not be surprised to see Brown come off the board on day three. Given his athletic ability and skill set, I wouldn't be scared to reach on Brown in the earlier half of Day 3. Brown's athletic potential and iintagibles gives him a chance to be a starter in the NFL if he is given a chance. Brown's coverage ability is good enough alone to make him a top 25 corner in the NFL, but his lack of run support will ultimately affect his final grade.
