MIN

Great first step and is very decisive with which pass rush move he is going to use. Uses a big variety of pass rush moves, but his swim move is elite. Very quick hands and plays with a lot of power, which makes him such a dangerous pass rusher. Fantastic finisher, once his hands are on you, you're going down. Doesn't get too deep in the backfield on runs and is good at setting the edge. He is extremely versatile and can play positions across the D-Line.

Weaknessess

He has pretty stiff hips and isn't very flexible. If he is 1-1 with a fast player, he struggles to break down and make the play. Can be over aggressive and create running lanes for opponents. Makes quick decisions, but then attacks so hard, he takes himself out of plays. Needs to work on his recover ability. There too many times, where he gets beat and can't get back in the play. This is surprising, because he has very quick hands.

Big Picture

Basham is a very underrated player and I think his team's success hurt him. I think he is one of the top pure DEs in the draft and can play any position on the line. He is definitely a scheme fit player and will not fit every team, but will be a difference maker for the teams that he fits. He will be a three down player, because he is good against both the run and pass. However it won't be immediately, because he has some things that need to be refined. Has a very good motor and is relentless when rushing the passer. He all the tools you want to see in a DE, but needs to work on his hips and athleticism. He has a hard time when 1-1 with the ball carrier and that can be a big problem at the next level. With that being said though, I still truly believe that if he works on his athleticism, he will be a big problem for opposing offenses.
