Explosive, twitchy athlete with a long frame. Excellent ball get off and great bend allows him to win regularly around the corner with speed. Effective spin move. Impressive closing burst. High motor player that doesn't give up on any play.
Very raw player especially in the run game. Room to add bulk to frame and needs to play a bit stronger in order to hold up on double teams and bigger tackles. Needs to be more controlled when finishing tackles. Must work on pass rush technique and add counter moves
Ojabo only began playing football while a junior in high school in 2017 after moving from Scotland to America. He was still rated as a four star recruit with multiple offers but chose Michigan. After redshirting his freshman season, he played very little in 2020. Ojabo broke onto the scene in 2021 alongside Hutchinson and his draft stock exploded. However, he suffered an Achilles injury while working out during the pre draft process. It was likely that he was a top 20 pick prior to the injury but may fall some now as he will miss most of this next season. I still believe Ojabo will be selected in the first round as he has some of the highest upside in this draft class and would only be a designated pass rusher while he continues to learn the position and defend the run. He has high end athletic traits at a premium position and has grown exponentially in his short time playing football. At the very least, Ojabo will be able to consistently pressure the quarterback from the edge position in certain packages and that is extremely valuable for any team.
High end athletic traits. Twitchy with very good flexibility and balance for his frame. Doesn't lose speed when changing direction and/or cornering. Explosive ball get off. Impressive closing burst. Excellent bend in hips/ankles to take sharp corners around the edge and flatten to the QB
Pass Rush Ability:
Use of Hands
Pass Rush Moves
Big Play Ability
Explosive first step and ball get off. Good use of long arms to keep blockers off him. Wins with speed and bend around the corner. Good spin move and jump cut back inside but few developed counters.
Against The Run:
Stays wide to force runs back to the inside. Able to effectively slide quickly back to inside gaps. Needs to add some strength to hold up on double teams and bigger, physical tackles. Inconsistent finisher on tackles, must break down better to have better angles/leverage.
Set the Edge
Stack and Shed
Gap Shooting Ability
Very good motor and plays with high effort. Physical player who fights through the end of the whistle.
High IQ and still learning the position. Has the tools to drop into zone or spot cover a tight end but lacks much experience
