Team Fit

PIT

MIN

LAC

Above average athleticism and amazing development in one season. Relentless motor and immense character to be named team captain in just one camp. Consistent production when given the proper playing time. Underrated strength. Cognizant of surroundings and makes an effort every rep.

Weaknessess

Run defense can be an issue when up against bigger and longer blockers. Hand usage can be limited to basic usage. He needs to refine his pass rush arsenal to contain more than three moves. One year of immense production after sitting behind more talented teammates.

Big Picture

Johnson broke out as a senior after transferring in from Georgia's star studded front seven. He displayed a ton of potential as a toolsy type of pass rusher that needs to refine some warts. Regardless of any technical deficiencies, he will be a first round selection. Best suited for either a primarily four man front as an EDGE or a hand in the dirt end. Three man front off ball linebacker might be a challenge initially. He has the chance to develop into a capable number two man.

Above average lateral agility with the relentless motor. Natural bender but he does play too upright at times. Explosive first step and exceptional play strength. Balance can be tricky on occasion as he comes in too high, losing all leverage against the blocker. Not the most springy or twitched up but has adequate athleticism.

Big Play Ability

Great first step to put blocker on their heels matching above average strength. Hands are a work in progress as blockers can use his length and relative unrefined technique against him. Leverage when on is premier but when it does not connect, it does have some issues as he cannot seem to hunker down and plays too tall. Displays a moderate arsenal of pass rush moves, relying on athleticism to get by tackles. Finishes well, rarely missing a potential sack or tackle.

Against The Run:

7.1

He can set the edge in the run game and hold up well at the POA but has some issues against bigger tackles. Stacking and shedding can be troublesome on occasion. Displays plus plus range when chasing the backside or down the field. Gap integrity is solid as well. Prospect rarely misses a tackle once the ball carrier is in his grasp.

Consistently good from game to game and rarely varies in production. Motor is always running on full blast as he often chases the backside and pursues downfield with a regularity. A disruptive force that impacted the defense by leading the team in sacks.
