Cooper flashes great reps and shows he can be a technician and execute perfect timing. He shows some variety in his pash rush moves and has shown the ability to win with speed ocassionaly as well. He has some versatility playing as an edge rusher and dropping into coverage here and there as well. He has a great motor who looks to go all out each play. He typically takes good angles to the ball carrier when chasing down a play.

Weaknessess

Jonathan has no dominant traits. He lacks length and it continuously shows rep after rep. He does not have elite speed or quickness. He cannot consistently bend the corner with his flexibility. He cannot set an edge as linemen tend to dominate him if he gets caught flat footed. He lacks the strength to consistent go against and win versus tackles on each play. He does not have great closing speed and tackles high on ball carriers.

Big Picture

Jonathan below average athlete without any dominant traits. He has been able to still be productive in the college level but will need to change positions in the NFL. As a college DE, his lack of length and strength were evident. He lacks a great variety of pass rush moves but often was easily controlled by opposing tackles. Without having elite burst and speed, he was able to get to and turn the corner against tackles who simply weren't prepared for it. He flashed reps of having hand usage, placement and timing to quickly beat tackles. While lacking the strength to consistently batlle with tackles successfully, he also strulggled to create artificial strength converting speed to power in a bull rush. He does excels in stunts to quickly move around the line. Ideally, he would have his greatest chance of success at a 3-4 OLB. He will still need to work on his consistently of timing and hand placement to be successful in the NFL. He showed a little extra burst coming from his limited 2 point stance reps and also did not drop into coverage too often. It will be a positional change he will need to adjust too to have a chance to be successful.

Can showcase decent explosiveness but it is inconsistent. Shows better burst when in a 2 point stance. Struggles to stay low and bend the corner on a tackle. Lacks operational strength and balance to consistently be a force on a play. Best attribute is his lateral agility which he uses to his advantage, often jump cutting inside to create quick space and upfield.

Big Play Ability

Extremely inconsistent at the snap. Flashes extremely quick first step but also times he is last off the LOS at the snap making his step obsolete. Flashes some skilled hand usage but not very advanced and also lacks a variety of pass rush moves. Seems to lack an attack plan often and simply uses a jump cut to get free from block. Has speed to occasionally win the corner but lacks the strength and length to beat tackles consistently. Lack of length makes him struggle to gain leverage. He does not have a lot of pass rush moves and prefers to work in space. He struggles to finish at times as well. When he gets double teamed, he appears to sometimes simply give up on the play.

Against The Run:

5.05

Due to his lack of length, he can struggle to effective set the edge and also stack and shed blocks. He prefers working with space and relies on his jump cut to shed blocks and put himself in a better attack position. He does not have elite speed so his range is limited, but he does show great effort each play. When he times the snap right, he can shoot gaps well, he is just inconsistent with it. He can struggle with balance too so while he can get in a gap, sometimes can be knocked down fairly easily. He tends to be a high tackler as well, although shows enough strength to still drag people down more often than not.

He does not seem to have fears on the field, just understands his limitations and how to put himself in the best position possible to win. He shows a fairly high motor on each play, just can get inconsistent between reps. He has the effort to be disruptive, but his physical limitations doesn't allow him to be as much of a distruptor as he plays like.

Intelligence:

5.83

He tends to get tunnel vision on his tasks in front of him and not fully know what is going on the backfield/where the ball is going. He struggles to recognize plays and simply reacts instead of anticipating the play. Mentally, he has some position versatility but his physical limitations severely limits his on-field versatility. He has some experience dropping into coverage as well but he is best suited for an edge role in a 3-4 defense.
