Team Fit

BUF

PIT

SF

High motor, doesn't give up on plays. Good athlete with a quick first step. Strong ball get off with hand in the ground or standing up. Good length and strong upper body to hold the edge. Makes plays from pursuit and hustle. Can be violent with hands Strength to set edge and hold ground.

Weaknessess

Raw technique needs to polish and add counter moves. Predictable pass rusher. Inconsistent disengaging from blockers. Occasionally still buries head on bull rush. Plays tall, doesn't break down and gets beat easily by quicker ball carriers. Lets tackles get fit and knock off his spot too often

Big Picture

Clemons took a longer route than most to this year's draft. He was not highly recruited coming out of high school and went to junior college first. He changed positions, developed himself, and excelled at the JUCO for two years before transferring to Texas A&M. He then utilized the extra year of eligibility granted by the NCAA to play through 2021. Clemons is a high effort player with some intriguing traits on the edge. Shown improvement each year and still hasn't hit ceiling. Tips his hand presnap and shows if he's setting edge, bull rush, etc. Very raw prospect that clearly works hard to improve. He hasn't played the edge position/role for very long, only switching to it after he moved to college and adding weight, so if he can continue to develop, Clemons could be a decent situational pass rusher and rotational edge/OLB defender in either a 3-4 or 4-3 scheme. He is a project player that should be good value in the middle of day 3 of the draft.
