TEN

Weaver has good size and ridiculous length. He does a good job of utilizing his large wing span to keep defenders away from his body. He does a terrific job utilizing his hands to deliver a blow to anyone who tries to block him. He has a knack for delivering a punch and sending blockers backwards. His strength at the point of attack allows for him to bully tight ends that try to block him. He has an elite spin move and other inside moves, that allows for a direct lane to the quarterback. He does an excellent job of squeezing down gaps and setting the edge. He flashed the ability to recognize run plays before they developed.

Weaknessess

Weaver is not an elite athlete. He lacks flexibility and plays on the edge standing straight up and down. This causes him to lose all leverage and often get washed out of plays. His balance and coordination are concerning. He lacks burst and is not explosive at the snap. He has a slow reaction time, causing him to miss tackles often. Weaver suffered a season ending knee injury in 2019. In 2020, he appeared to play stiff. This raises red flags on whether Weaver can return to his 2018 form. His lack of athletic tools makes him a one dimensional type edge player at the next level.

Big Picture

Weaver possesses two things that can not be taught… size and length. He has an incredible wing span, that allows for him to keep bodies off him, deliver a powerful strike at the snap and disrupt passes at the line of scrimmage. He lacks flexibility and plays stiff. He has a tendency to play straight up down causing him to get thrown off balance often. He is a slow twitch pass rusher. His lack of explosive traits, this regulates him to being a one dimensional player. Weaver’s strength and size are enough for him to be a solid rotational player with developmental upside to blossom into a potential starter down the road. He will have to be an end in a traditional 3-4 to succeed, he does not have the athletic tools to be a hybrid piece that can play outside linebacker and walk up.

Big Play Ability

Weaver does not have an explosive first step. He does a terrific job of utilizing his hands to deliver a blow to blockers. He struggles gaining any leverage due to his high pad level. He has an elite spin move and other inside moves that allow for a direct path to the quarterback. However, his lack of balance and leverage prevents him from being a consistent pass rusher. He flashed great finish ability at times, but his lateral agility limited him in the open field.

Against The Run:

6.85

Weaver does an excellent job of squeezing down and setting the edge. His range is decent because of his wing span and length. This makes up for his lack of lateral agility . He does a terrific job shooting gaps and executing stunts. He is a good tackler behind the line, but struggles at times in space. He does great job of stacking up blockers with his long arms and shedding them to get to the ball carrier.

Weaver is extremely physical and gritty. He loves the opportunity to bull rush and bully tight ends and tackles. He flashed the capability of being disruptive, but he is extremely inconsistent. Weaver's motor is high at times, but he appears to take plays off.

Intelligence:

6.33

Weaver showed good awareness and play recognition in the run game. He does a great job in the RPO game of sticking to his assignment and not getting sucked inside. His lack athletic tools, limits his versatility and makes him more of a one dimensional edge player.
