Position versatility is the best part of Walker's game. Can play inside with his hand in the dirt in a one or three technique or come off the edge as a true pass rusher. Also showed that he can be trusted with dropping into coverage. Has very good play strength, keeping a solid base and not being knocked off the ball easily. Shows a good amount of strength in his hands as a pass rusher, packing a nice initial punch. His explosive first step off the line of scrimmage helps him to gain a quick advantage on offensive linemen, especially when shooting gaps as an interior rusher.
Weaknessess
Really needs to improve on his technique as a pass rusher. Has a great inital first step but lacks the pass rush moves to win on a consistent basis. Once he gets engaged, needs some counter moves to get hands off of him. Takes way too long at times to shed blockers. Does a great job of stacking the offensive lineman and finding the ball, but spends too much unneccessary time fighting with them. Shows flashes of elite traits on film but just needs more overall consistency in his game.
Big Picture
A five-star prospect out of the state of Georgia, Travon Walker decided to stay at home and play for the Bulldogs. Saw immediate playing time as a true freshman, finishing with 15 tackles, 3.5 tackles for loss, 2.5 sacks, and earning Freshman All-SEC Team honors. Continued to see significant snaps in 2020 but saw a decrease in production, finishing with 13 tackles, one sack, and an interception. Truly made a name for himself as a junior as a part of one of the best defenses in college football history. In his third season as a Bulldog, Walker finished with 33 tackles, 7.5 tackles for loss, and six sacks. This performance was good enough for him to declare early for the draft and get invited to the 2022 NFL Combine. As a prospect, Walker has been rising up the boards quickly, especially after an impressive combine and pro day performance. He is even being mentioned in the top overall pick discussion for the Jacksonville Jaguars. He is a very intriguing prospect with high quality traits but hasn't been able to tap into his highest potential just yet. With lack of a true position, Walker will be best suited in a defensive scheme that will allow him to use his versatility and move around the front. I expect Walker to likely be gone in the Top 10 picks but he is a prospect that needs to go to the right team. If put in the right system, Walker could be a high quality starter on a defensive front for many years in the league.

Walker is a solid athlete at his position. Has good lateral agility with the ability to change direction and move side to side with fluidity.Very good play strength, holding his ground and making it tough for offensive linemen to move him. Explodes off the ball with a strong first step and burst into the backfield out of his stance. Maintains good contact balance, not getting pushed around or off track often. Shows some decent bend at times but would like to him get even more flexible when coming off the edge to get around offensive tackles.

Big Play Ability
Has a very quick, explosive first step out of his stance. Has a good amount of power/punch in his hands and plays with solid leverage. Both of these traits give him a huge advantage as a bull rusher. While he has a great start in his pass rush, needs to show more in the rest of his pass rush process. Has shown very few pass rush moves. Relies on his strength and quickness to win. Once on offensive lineman as engaged, he doesn't show counter moves to get their hands off of him. Shows good finishing ability once he gets to the passer but they problem is that he is inconsistent on beating the offensive lineman and putting himself in position to finish.
Against The Run:

Does a good job of squeezinf down on the offensive tackle or end man of the line of scrimmage to set the edge. Uses his strong hands to stack offensive linemen to hold his ground and find the football. However, he takes too long to shed blocks at times.
