Xavier Thomas has good athleticism. He has strong explosiveness and good lateral agility. Thomas flashes a lot of strength with his play and is very smooth with his footwork. Thomas is solid, setting the edge at a good level when going after players that run to his side. He takes good angles when changing down defenders and shines with his gap shooting abilities. He is an extremely physical tackler. Thomas is extremely competitive and is extremely tough and has the ability of being disruptive when recognizing the plays.
Weaknessess
Thomas must improve on being flexible and with his posture in his stance plus going against defenders. Thomas is sloppy with his hands and when using pass rush moves. He does not have a lot of leverage due to his hands, posture, and pass rushing moves. He is not the most consistent player or has strong awareness. Durability is a big concern as he missed multiple games due to a Concussion, Illness, Ankle, and Shoulder injury. Thomas also tested positive for Covid-19 in 2020.
Big Picture
Xavier Thomas has the tools needed to be a solid Defensive end/ EDGE rusher in the NFL. Including his athleticism with his explosiveness and his lateral agility as he is ready to get physical right when the ball is snapped. Thomas is very smooth with his footwork and plays with a lot of strength. Thomas is solid at setting the edge right away at a good level and takes proper angles when chasing defenders to make the tackles. He shines with his gap shooting ability and is a very strong and physical tackler. Thomas is extremely competitive and is extremely tough through out his play when tackling offensive players. Thomas has the ability of being disruptive when recognizing the plays and can utalize his motor properly during the game. Xavier Thomas needs to improve his flexibility and posture as it heavily affects his play and is a big disadvantage for defenders. Thomas on occasion has a habit of being under flexible which results in him missing a lot of tackles. He is extremely sloppy with his hand usage and pass rushing techniques which provides a big disadvantage when facing offensive lineman. He is not the most consistent player or has strong awareness when he is reading the offense pre snap. Durability is a huge concern as he missed multiple games due to an assortment of injuries including a Concussion, Illness, Ankle, and Shoulder Sprain. It is also important to note that Xavier Thomas also tested positive for Covid-19 in 2020. Xavier has the potential of possibly being a late 1st or 2nd round prospect if he cleans up his weaknesses. But with the tremendous amount of Durability concerns surrounding Thomas. I have Xavier Thomas projected to go in either the late 2nd or early 3rd round of the draft.

Xavier Thomas has good athleticism. Is flexible when going off the edge to go through offensive lineman but needs to improve being flexible with taller o-linemen. Has strong explosiveness from when the play starts to the end. Has strong lateral agility and flashes a lot of strength with his play. He has decent posture when he is in his stance but needs to have better posture when getting through o-lineman.

Big Play Ability
Thomas is smooth with his footwork and is quick with his first steps. Thomas is sloppy with his hands and when using pass rush moves. He does not have a lot of leverage over the o-lineman due to his hands, posture, and pass rushing moves. Thomas must improve with his finish ability as sometimes he does not finish the play strong and even on occation misses the oppertunity to sack the quarterback.
