Strengths

Solid IOL who has a lot of traits you see in the elite level talent at the next level. Keenly aware in pass protection where he uses a wide base and shuffle to mirror pass rushers. Is adept at passing off and dealing with stunts and games. Is even better in the run game as he is a quality blocker in space or pulling or when tasked to drive block or down block he can help seal off huge rushing lanes. Motivated Team Leader who will not let his teammates slack off at all!

Weaknessess

Was a vital member of a Michigan OL that had a number of NFL caliber OL, so were some of his deficiencies masked due to the surrounding talent. He has an alarming lack of arm length at 31 1/2". That lack of length can rear its head, especially in the passing game as lengthier DL can lock him out and use rush moves to get past him. He also can struggle to stay in front of DL with quick first steps.

Big Picture

Ben Bredeson is one of the most experienced IOL in this class with 46 starts at LG in his 4 years at Michigan. You don't start that many games unless you have some next-level traits, and he has a solid all-around skill set that will endear him to OL coaches at the next level. He should be taken somewhere between the third to the fourth round. Almost every team in the NFL is looking for OL help, but a couple of teams that should be keeping close tabs on him are the Steelers, Ravens, Jets, Bills, Broncos, and Rams. His playing style reminds me of Joe Thuney.

Solidly built fire hydrant at LG. He is a grizzled veteran who gets by on tenacity, technique, and understanding of how to mask his physical limitations. He has impressive flexibility to get out in front of RBs in the short trap game and fit on second-level defenders. He is a sturdy IOL who utilizes a wide base and light feet to mirror to help offset his lack of length (31 1/8"). Has enough lateral agility to block in space and will not be pigeon-holed as a phone booth brawler. Does not possess any explosive athletic, rather has quality strength throughout his build and understands how to stonewall defenders with what he does have. Only played at LG at Michigan, but his skill set could be utilized at RG and would make for a really intriguing Center prospect.

Can move bigger DL than himself off the LOS due to his leg drive and very good strength in his lower and upper half. He is a coordinated mover in space and can flow and fit on second-level defenders at a high rate of success. When he is tasked with down blocking he completely seals off rushing lanes and can make gaping holes for his RBs to burst through. Is a nimble-footed pulling OG that doesn't look out of place in space. Has accurate hand placement and is a worker bee until he hears the whistle blows.

Solid foot quickness to shuffle and slide to try and mirror pass rushers off the ball. If he is able to engage his hands onto you the rep is likely over. Possesses terrific field vision and feel for the stunt and twist game, and shows the patience to pick up delayed blitzers. Strong anchor ability and if he is able to engage can use his lower body strength to sit down into a wide base and absorb bull rush. His hand placement is coordinated and well placed and will fight through the whistle. Will look to chip and help out his teammates around him when he does not have a pass rusher in front of him. He struggles against lengthier DL with heavy hands due to his length deficiencies as they can lock him out and use a variety of pass rush moves to get past him. He also can struggle to mirror IDL with a quick first step as they showed the ability to cross his face if he wasn't able to engage them.

Played in 50 career games, 46 being starts at LG. Was a four-time letter winner at Michigan, including being named the 2018 Toughest Player Award. Was a Third-Team AP All-American in 2019. He does not take plays off and plays with a tenacity that most DL don't want to match by the 4th quarter.

Keenly aware IOL with great field vision. Is an efficient pre-snap communicator and was one of the players that helped adjust and identify pre-snap adjustments. His work ethic spanned beyond the gridiron and saw him named as an Academic All American in 2017. Was voted twice as a team captain was a revered presence and leader in that locker room.
