Strengths
Big G or T that wants to win with his straight power and leverage. Makes effective run blocks to give the RB room to run. Can fire up his strong hands to control the defender in front of him. Balanced at the POA which allows him to drive opponents a certain direction. Reliable play strength to control powerful defenders and not get completely blown away.
Weaknessess
Being able to counter a defender’s block shed move was not evident and presented him to be beat around the bend of pass blocks. Not enough movement and ability to reset his feet to not get beat in the inside B-gap. Communicating blitzes and stunts is a trait that needs more development. Having better flexibility will allow more wins versus powerful bull rushing defenders that like to drive opponents into the QB.
Big Picture
The Michigan State G or RT plays the game of football with good overall strength and aggressiveness. Did have better success and blocks at the G position then RT. Playing in the interior of the line, allows him to use more of his size and less usage of his lateral movement ability which he does not have a whole lot of. Kevin Jarvis does have good movement off the LOS but handling athletic pass rushers did give him problems out at RT. Overall, when pass blocking, Jarvis does do a good job at firing his hands up and controlling defenders at the POA. The issues were when rushers had excellent moves to combat his long arms at the POA. However, His balance and ability to use his leverage allows himself to control powerful rushers. Much more effective in the run game then the pass because he gets to use his straight leverage to his advantage. Jarvis was able to make effective reach and down blocks with some that ended in pancakes. However, defenders that can throw a quick jab, or rip move were able to beat him by attacking his inside shoulder. Continuing at combating defenders moves will improve his game greatly. More communication at the LOS to carve out those blitzes firing at the B-gaps need to be developed in his game. In the end this is a quality offensive linemen that with more development, could be a starter in the NFL.

Not going to be the quickest and fastest offensive linemen moving to create blocks in the 2nd level of the defender. Is not super explosive when making contact with defender at the POA but does have a good play strength. Does show good balance when getting into his pass set and blocking defenders. Lateral agility was shown the most when moving in reach blocks and mirroring the pass rushers in front of him. More flexibility developed in his game will improve his overall blocking ability.

At both the G and T positions, he was able to make effective reach blocks to create the cutback lane for the RB. Using his leverage at the POA allows him to win his blocks. Powerful defenders that have fast hands were able to block shed his down blocks with a quick move to the outside shoulder. Needs to continue at adjusting to defenders in space and not always relining on his straight size to win at the POA. Will use his hands to his advantage to grab a defender a certain way but countering their moves need to be more evident in his game. Does get off the LOS at a good level but being quicker around the bend of his pull blocks will only benefit the development of the play/block more.

Will fire up his hands to create that early advantage in his pass set but more punches and countering that rushers move is only going to help. Is better at quick sets then elongated pass drops. Wants to control and create that leverage advantage within him and the defender at the POA. Can mirror pass rushers at a good level but is better at it at the G position the RT. Is not going to be a complete powerful anchor but does hold up versus power rushers. Combating those inside rip moves does need more improvement at the next level. Speed rushers are able to get good rushes against him. Having a deeper/faster kick back off the LOS will only be beneficial.

Is that tough offensive linemen that wants to produce those pancake blocks by winning with his straight leverage. Solid motor can go from G to T if need be. A good mauling ability to win versus bigger defenders.

More communication with his fellow linemen needs to happen more. Blitzes that where thrown his way were not always picked up. Handles stunts better at the G position. Is a versatile linemen that can play G and T. Would like to see him develop more as a G however.
