Strengths
Rose is a great pound for pound linebacker, who plays with quality play strength. He plays with a low center of gravity, which makes it hard for blockers to knock him off balance. He is a menace inside the box and does a great job blowing p lead blockers and getting down hill to maker plays. He does a great job He is an extremely physical blitzer and has the capabilities to force turnovers. He is as tough as they come and is always around the football, which is a testament to his motor.
Weaknessess
Rose is not an elite athlete. His lack of speed and agility cause him to struggle in coverage as well as he does not possess the closing quickness to run down ball carriers. He does not have good hip fluidity or route recognition to be an effective in coverage. He struggles to stay in front of shifty ball carries where he too often was missing tackles, which resulted in negative plays turning positive.
Big Picture
Rose is an effective Sam Linebacker, when he is playing in the box. He has great play strength and gritty demeanor, which allows to disrupt plays. He is a physical blitzer that has the capability on any down he is blitzing to cause mayhem. However, if he is asked to cover ground outside of the box...Rose is limited. His lack of agility and speed cause him to struggle both in space and in coverage. He has tight hips, which prevents him from tracking ball carrier down and covering in space. He also missed far too many tackles for linebacker of his nature. Rose will very one dimensional at the next level. To find success he will have to play in a scheme that does not ask much of him outside the box. He is not an every down linebacker. However his toughness and motor should be a enough for him to find a spot as a quality special teams and role player.
