Williams is a large kid with a great frame, leadership and work ethic. The strengths of his game are in his anchor abilities in pass block and his mean blocking in the run game. He constantly showed a tremendous ability to stay engaged with defenders after punching into their pads. His footwork and technique are already at a high level for a 20 year old.
Williams main weakness is his strength. His lack of explosive strength lead to his lunging to engage defenders and not blowing them off the ball. Although it is tough to consider it a weakness, his health has been a real concern during his time at Texas. He tore is MCL and PCL against USC this season and missed a large chunk of the year. For some reason his film from the previous season was better at times than this year.
Connor Williams is often discussed in the top 3 Left Tackle prospects in this years class, turn on the film and it is easy to see why. Williams’s foot work, balance, punch and aggressiveness allow him to maul defenders and handle rushers of any type. His best strength are his ability to play both the strength and speed rushers. His largest weakness is his injury from this year and lack of elite strength which could catch up to him to him at the NFL level. The main attribute I want to know more about is his arm length to see if he can stand up to EDGE rushers in the NFL. Williams will need to perform well at the combine both medically and test time wise. Williams looks as if he could be a mid level starer in the NFL and Left tackle, or possibly slide to guard and be a high level guard.
Quick feet to set in pass protection.Looked balance most of the time except for a few lunges at EDGE rushers. Shows good flexibility in his lower body with great knee bend in pass protection. Turns well to adjust to pass rushers who are looking to take the corner on him. He engages, and ride them out of the play. Would not call him exceptionally explosive, on some plays will have a strong initial punch, but on others will look tentative and not explode into blocks. Good at both run block and pass protection. Shows versatility to block both strength and speed on the EDGE.

Big Play Ability
One of the strongest parts of his game. He is a mauler with a nasty streak in him who dominates interior defenders and can open big holes for running backs. When he maintains his balance, punches and explodes out he has tremendous movement off the line. Shows a willingness and ability to slide down and reach to the next gap. He is able to get his hands on the D-Lineman and stay engaged with them. Only saw limited attempts on film, but when he did he was able to pull quickly and open big holes for the Wildcat QB. Definitely could use improvement, when getting to the second level he will sometimes look lost in who to block and end up not really blocking anyone. Good hands with a strong punch and the ability to stay engaged with defenders.
His quick feet and balance allow for a quick set. This helped him block both strength and speed on the EDGE. Tremendous at maintaining the corner due his height and arm length. Speed rushers would typically get run into the ground, and bull rushers will be stale mated. Exceptional footwork in pass protection to set, punch and maintain engagement. Shows ability to slide and reset if need be. Best part of his game is his anchor ability. His size, strength, foot work and punch all combine to make him almost impossible to go through. Showed a great ability to stale mate defenders until QB has thrown the ball. Area of improvement for him, sometimes missed the most important defender and looked confused on who to block. Not the most consistent part his game, but he shows great punch when he does it well. His ability to stay engaged and locked on defenders is exceptional.
Ability to Combat Inside Move
Extremely tough, was bullied as a kid and plays with a mean streak. Consistency is an area of improvement, needs to learn to not lunge at times and punch more effectively. Very productive in his time at Texas. Was named to First team all American and First team all Conference.
Shows good instincts to block initial pass rush moves, but can use work to anticipate the second move. Smart kid with a good GPA in college. Shows that he understands pass game schemes. When he would double up a defender the defender would always end up being blown back.
