Hudson has unbelievable athleticism and agility for his big frame. He is light on his feet, which makes him extremely dangerous when he pulls and effective as a zone blocker. His flexibility and mobility makes him an ideal lead blocker in the screen and RPO game. He has terrific hand strength, once he is engaged with the defender. He does a great job of getting the first level blocked and naturally climbing to the second level. He flashed great mirror ability against faster edge rushers. He is effective sealing the edge in run situations.
Weaknessess
Hudson is very raw with only 11 starts. His pass protection is concerning. He struggles with his footwork and getting himself in position to be an effective pass protector. He tends to overstep his frame and lose his balance. Struggles sliding to protect the inside against inside moves, which makes him susceptible to stunts and twists. He has a tendency to lunge at defenders and leave his feet. This causes defenders to blow by him or knock him off balance. He needs to learn to drive his legs through his blocks as a run blocker.
Big Picture
Hudson is a big bodied tackle, who possesses elite athleticism for his position. He has a unique combination of lateral agility and speed. However, Hudson is extremely raw with only 11 starts under his belt. His pass protection needs a complete overhaul. He has a tendency to lunge at defenders and over step to the outside causing him to be off balance and be extremely susceptible to inside moves. He flashed an intriguing ability to be a dangerous blocker when he pulls and gets out in open space on the screen and RPO game. He also does a really good job of naturally climbing to the second level and sealing defenders off in the run game. Hudson has the physical tools to be a solid tackle at the next level, but needs to work on his fundamentals and will need good coaching to fix his flaws as a pass protector. He is a developmental project with a very high ceiling.
