Jake Haener is an athletic player as he has solid agility and can fit well with schemes involving RPOs and Play Action. He can be mobile in the pocket, and can be explosive and has decent speed as well. Very consistent with his touch and ball placement. He is very accurate throwing the football whether the target is short, intermediate, or deep. Has a quick release with the football and has smooth footwork. Haener is a very competitive player as he is a great leader, has a solid level of production, and can improvise when in a tight spot. Haener plays with a high level of grit and toughness. It is shown with how he battles through injuries and fights for extra yards. He can be a leader and has a high football IQ. Haener has to do a better job avoiding pressure. Haener is very lean and does not have the greatest posture, along with him being a bit undersized can be an issue. What is not the most consistent is his delivery and his mechanics being sloppy. Haener does not have a rocket arm, but has decent arm strength. Now he does need to work on being more poise in the pocket as the pressure can get to him. Lets address the obvious, he is 24 years old which means he is an older rookie compared to other options. Durability is a concern with his ankle and hip injury he suffered the past few seasons. I have Haener as a 4th/5th round prospect, but it would not shock me if he was a Day 2 draft choice in the 3rd round.
