Sherwood has great length and adds great size in the box for run support. He has elite size to cover big TEs and can run with athletic TEs as well. He is a hard hitter and tackles like a pro level safety. He has great play recognition in the run game and breaks down into a tackle-ready stance while getting into contact. WRs over the middle make sure they know where Jamien is at all times on the field. He is also an elite special teams talent. Great communication with other DBs in the secondary and picks up coverage assignments well in zone.
Weaknessess
Jamien is not a very agile in open space and doesn't have great ability to run with vertical WRs. He is more of a safety blanket than a primary coverage guy. This lack of man coverage will limit his draft stock to teams that rely primarily on high safety and zone schemes. He does not have much experience in the passing game and that will make scouts look the other way given the pass pro style offenses that are in the NFL. If he is unable to cover at the next level, then he may be coverted to a LB but would need time to bulk up and leanr the position.

Big Picture
Jamien Sherwood is exactly what NFL scouts want in a safety. His sheer size alone is incredible. He has a massive wingspan and great length for an NFL safety. He will fit beautifully into a traditonal strong safety role or a zone system. He has limittions in coverage but that's ok because he makes up for it with his elite tackling ability. Sherwood has exceptional movement skills for a big safety and his intial burst and short range explosiveness is very good. NFL scouts are going to love his athletic skill set but fear his limited coverage. Sherwood will be a great run stopping safety and might even be coverted to a LB if he can put on weight. He is an elite run stopping safety and his presence will be known to opposing RBs. Sherwood will be a day 3 pick and potentially as early as round 5. Jamien will be drafted and utilized somewhere.
