Skinner has strong athleticism and it is shown with his lateral agility and play strength. He hits with a ton of power and is a more physical safety. Skinner has excellent ball skills and utilizes his hands very well and can do a great job closing plays quickly. Skinner does not blitz often, but when he does he is pretty solid. Very physical as a run stopper as he is willing to engage with blocks, has a strong tackling technique, and he hits with power. Skinner is very competative as he plays with a motor, aggression, and a lot of confidence. Skinner can recognize plays well and is a strong communicator.
Weaknessess
His footwork can be a bit sloppy and slow at times. Speaking of speed, Skinner is not the fastest player and he does not have the greatest posture while in coverage and bending. He struggles a ton with man to man coverage and when it comes to Zone Coverage, he is more of a below average player. He is slow to recover when making a mistake in coverage and does not have the hip fluidity you want to see in a safety. Skinner must do better getting to the high point. Skinner could do a better job hitting proper pursuit angles. He is not the most consistent player and it shows with his coverage and closing quickness. I can't say he has strong Position Versatility as he mostly played as a Strong Safety. Durability could be a problem as he suffered a pectoral injury which forced him to not participate at the combine.
