Strengths
Has a good understanding of his instincts and capabilities and puts himself in good positions to make a play. Has a developed route tree and can run them with confidence. Takes good angles throughout his routes. Plays with a toughness that could provide some special teams possibilities.
Weaknessess
Limited by size to be able to utilize his body while ball is in the air. Dont think his size will allow most of his YAC skills to translate to NFL. Not very explosive out of breaks, may struggle to consistently get seperation against man coverage.
Big Picture
Metchie seemed to be a solid role player throughout his tenure at Alabama. He never really had his time to be the clear #1 guy and he really isnt suited to provide that as well. He's a smart ball player who is at his best with the ball in his hands or finding an open spot in the defense to expolit. He'd be a great wr3 for a team where he can be the tertiary option that can take advantage of a weakness in a defense. ACL tear in December likely to drop his draft stock.

Decent athlete, more quick than fast. Comfortable moving east and south and knows how to manipulate angles with his pace. Plays better with the ball in his hands where he can use his instincts and vision.

Big Play Ability
Sufficent and solid but nothing that really sets him apart. His effectiveness mostly comes from recognition of open zones and how to get a space for the QB to throw. Not scared to go over the middle, but he's most effective when he can just focus on finding the open space. You can tell hes worked on the technical aspects and uses his stems well, just doesnt have the explosiveness to consistently seperate like others his size. More smooth than effective
Ball Skills:

Hands | Catch Radius | Contested Catch | High Points Ball |

Can make some great catches but doesnt secure the tough ones consistently enough to have faith in him providing that at the next level. Limited by his strength which puts him at a disadvantage in some scenarios when running routes. He tracks the ball well, but just isnt the contested catch guy. More body catching than you'd like to see.
Competitiveness:

Contact Balance | Blocking | Aggression/Toughness | Run After Catch |
---|---|---|---|

Has a good bit of scrappiness to him. He's aggresive with his blocks and enjoys getting into the mix with defenders, and has an edge with his running style that will win him extra yards occasionally. Has a great mentality for blocking but fear that his size won't allow him to be true weapon for it at the next level.
Intelligence:
7.02
Showed good understanding of defensive coverages and was able to expolit from both slot and outside. Played enough in the ALabama system to assume he carries a good bit of natural understanding of the scheme and responsibilites.
