NFL QB Pressure escape Rate

Blitz set out to provide more extensive research and statistics pertaining to an NFL Quarterback's ability to extend plays with their athleticism, footwork, field vision, and pocket awareness. The pocket QB of the past may never go extinct but should be considered an endangered species in today's NFL. Quarterbacks more than ever need to be as athletic as their defensive counterparts and Blitzalytics' goal was to showcase these statistics via film study. After tracking every drop back in the 2020-21 NFL season for all 32 teams, our research group becomes the first to produce any form of Pressure Escape data.

Pressure Escape- The avoidance of any defender within sacking distance, both inside or outside the pocket via movement from the original point the passer set his feet post drop back. If the QB does not relocate, does he run the risk of getting sacked? If yes, AND, the QB does relocate, did it directly results in avoiding the sack. If both statements are true, then a pressure escape is charted by game, regular season, and post-season.

Pressure Escape Rate- Total amount of Pressure Escapes divided by the total pressures per game or season. Basic QB pressure stats provided by ProFootballReference.com which include all hurries, hits, and sacks. Those stats are then cross-referenced with Blitzalytics research group tracking of pressures by way of film study.
