Team Fit

Strengths

Carter is a strong, experienced defender with great length. His IQ is great and he knows how to anchor a defense. He can be effective in a pass and rush setting. Carter knows how to play DT at the NFL level and will be able to squeze gaps on early downs in the NFL. He works hard on every play. His use of hands is decent but he has strong power through his moves and hand shivers. His best ability is going to be his experience on an SEC defense.

Weaknessess

Carter lacks lateral quickness and agility. He is a good sized DT which helps and hurts him due to his lack of atleticism. His linear movement is good and helped him perform well at FL. From watching film, Carter does not appear to be a very strong tackler. He can hold defenders up but he has a lack of plays to be made one on one in the hoel without help from the rest of the team. This is a knock but it's definitely not a huge weakness at the DT position.

Big Picture

Carter is looking to be a good DT prospect in the draft. He is a big body who has more expeirence than a lot of other DTs in the draft. He has a strong frame and a strong mind that will help him get drafted earlier than his expected stock. Being with an NFL tream will help carter improve his quickness as well as his technique. Carter will be drafted to an NFl team. At his earliest he could be a late day 2 pick. I could see him being grabbed in the third round. Fourth round at the lastest and would be very surprised if he fell past that.

Carter is a good athlete for his size. His lateral ability is not great but he has good explosiveness and play strength. His strength is his best ability which doesn't help in terms of his athleticism.

Carter is a good pass rusher. He does not have the speed to run off the edge against good NFL tackles but he can slip gaps and bull rush the QB. His length gives him the ability to push OL back in the QB and collapse the pocket. He has power in his hands but copuld use work on his moves upfront. Timing on the moves is good.

Against The Run:

Carter is better agaisnt the run then he is the pass due to his length, strength, and consistent leverage against defenders. He squeezez gaps fairly well and can set the edge too. His lateral quickness limits his ability to chase down on backside pressure.

Carter has a good motor but does shometimes show a lack of effort on pursuoit angles. He gets his pad level low and plays in the trenches so there is no question about his toughness. Given his frame I am surprised he is not moe disruptive. I beleive he just needs NFLtraining and he should improve upfront.

Carter is an experienced player and was an anchor for the Florida Defense for a couple years. He is able to process plays quickly and recognize what is happening in order to be a productive member of the offense. As for his versatility, he can defend the run and pass well, however, his ability is limited due to his lack of lateral quickness.
