Strengths

Production was impressive in his last season. Processing and IQ is outstanding. Motor, toughness, and leadership aren't in question and is consistently great. Excellent tackler that rarely misses on an opportunity. Plays fast due to elite level IQ that puts him in the picture on a constant basis. Angles aren't a thing as he quickly erases them. Athleticism is above average and it shows that he was converted down to linebacker from safety.

Weaknessess

Despite the high level RAS score, he's a functional athlete, not a great one. Can be somewhat tight in his hips. Possibly limited to an inside role at the next level due to size and speed concerns. Pass rush element needs to be explored and more developed. System dependent or can he evolve?

Big Picture

Muma is one of the best linebackers in the class and should be a Day 2 selection. He profiles like an inside linebacker who can float outside in certain situational packages. Likely will start on special teams with backup reps turning into a starter in year two. A similar tack that former Cowboys alum Logan Wilson took with the Bengals currently.

Athleticism:

6.8

7.25

Functionally lateral athlete. Explosiveness is above average. Plays at a faster pace due to high IQ and instant diagnostic skills. Stronger than most linebackers as he's bigger than some in the class. Closes to the ball with suddeness and quickness as to processing ability. Sufficient lateral quickness to play outside but is probably best suited for inside linebacker. Explosive but fundamental tackler.

He wasn't asked to rush the passer a lot but the same athletic abilities and football IQ show up. Good first step explosion to throw off blockers. Limited pass rush arsenal due to not doing it much and that area needs development. Displays above average ability to out-leverage the blocker. Very good timing and awareness to know when and where to attack.

Coverage:

6.75

7.25

Not the most fluid of cover linebackers in the class. He has some ability to turn and run but the hips are a touch slow and stiff but not dangerously slow. Makes up for the hip tightness by recognizing the route immediately and directing traffic there. More than capable of playing man to man but will get burned by quicker offensive skill. He's a better zone defender without the requirements of man to man.

Against The Run:

Production shows that he's a very sound tackler who rarely misses. Range is above average and he doesn't quit on a rep but can be limited by stiffness. Easily identifies the angle of attack taken by the ball carrier and shuts it down. Leverage play is outstanding and he doesn't miss often even with blockers on him. Stack and shed ability is slightly above average.

Tough hombre who doesn't have the word "quit" in his vocabulary. Consummate team leader who is the field marshal for the defense. A consistently white hot motor in pursuit.

Intelligence:

Great processing ability and IQ. He diagnoses the play quickly, attacks, and plays with his hair on fire. Athletic ability is enhanced with his way above average football IQ. Offers limited positional versatility as he was the primary inside linebacker and not much else.
