Strengths

Violent and aggressive runner that explodes through the line of scrimmage to the second level. Powerfully built and loaded with muscle. Exciting back to watch due to his free-style nature and disregard for his body. He will pick up every yard that is available with leg drive and determination to push the pile. Impressive receiver for his build that is quick into his routes, has soft hands, and can run routes beyond the line of scrimmage. Very versatile and can stay on the field for three downs. Was not intimidated by stout SEC defenses; showing no fear running into the heart of the defense or taking on blocks. Exceptional ball security and hasn't lost a fumble since high school. Plays with emotion and energy than is palpable on the field.

Weaknessess

Only played in three games in 2020 season; opted out to prepare for NFL Draft. Running style toes a fine line of exciting reckless. Bull in a china shop at times that will likely be asked to harness his running style when he gets to the next level. Runs too tall and will leave himself open to big shots. Aggressive style would lead you to believe that injuries are inevitable. Despite explosiveness and burst, has average long speed at best. Plus receiver but concentration lapses led to some easy drops. Hill possesses a fun skill set that will endear him to fans but also leave them wanting just a bit more in the way of feature back instincts, long speed, and polish.

Big Picture

Hill's decision to opt-out of the 2020 season is a bit of a head scratcher. He was a well decorated back in the SEC but simply did not put enough NFL feature back traits on tape to push his draft stock into the top three rounds. His explosive and violent running style adds a degree of attitude to an offense and his versatility will earn him a roster spot. Hill is a throwback to the three down runner of old that runs with power, has soft hands, and will bury a blitzing linebacker. While he's not a prototypical NFL feature back, he will be effective in a rotation and could be a fixture on 3rd down for a long time. There are some rough edges to Hill, but it's those same rough edges that make him a unique piece to a backfield. A team looking to add toughness and versatility to their RB room would be wise to look at Hill in the 4th/5th round. The big question is whether his running style will hold up in the league. His burst, hands, and pass blocking will give him his shot to answer that question. One thing is for certain, fans will be pulling for Hill to make a roster from his first touch in the pre-season when he sticks his foot in the turf and explodes through the line.

Embodies explosiveness and burst. Violent and borderline reckless running style. Hill gets to the line in a hurry. Long speed is average and fades the further he travels. Upright running style isn't ideal to maintain balance through contact. Runs hard and makes it a habit to fall forward. Showed better long speed in 2020 than in 2019. Changes direction with powerful jump cuts; plants and bursts. Has the hops to leap over defenders going low.

Big Play Ability

Finds the soft spot in the defense and explodes through. Consistently picks up short yardage with burst and aggressive running style. Has not lost a fumble since sophomore year of HS. Runs tall for a power back, which leaves him open to take big shots and negates some of his leg drive. Wild running style that resembles backyard football. Has enough agility to make the first man miss.

Receiving:

7.38

Gets out of the backfield quickly in the screen game. Very quick into routes downfield and can run an advanced route tree for a bigger back. Showed he can make tough catches on the sideline. Competant receiver out of the backfield that showcases soft hands. Can adjust to throws behind him and snatch the ball away from his body. Concentration drops on well thrown balls pop up on tape.
