Strengths
Rakeem have very good vision in Man/Gap and Zone schemes. His ball carrier vision allows for him to see how blocks develop and where lanes are appearing. Boyd has good play speed and is fluid in his movement. He runs with good tempo and patience, but also has the long foot speed to break off runs for big gains. Boyd has good size for the RB position and is able to run with toughness between the tackles, breaking through arm tackles with ease. Boyd is good running after contact and can carry defenders for an extra few yards. He has great ball security with only one career fumble and protects the ball through contact. Boyd has great linear elusiveness and is able to make quick cuts in tight space. He has soft hands in the passing game, very few drops, and quickly transitions into a runner after the catch.
Weaknessess
While Boyd has good athleticism in short space, he does not possess the lateral quickness to make multiple defenders miss behind the line of scrimmage and in space. Boyd struggles to create in the open field. Despite Boyd's prototypical RB build, he goes down fairly easy, as he does not have the strength to run through defenders unless it's an arm tackle. Rakeem's biggest wekaness is his limited route tree in the passing game, almost exclusively running flats out of the backfield. He lacks the open space athleticism to make defenders miss after the catch. Does not have the technique or strength to be trusted in pass protection.

Big Picture
Boyd can provide depth to any RB committee in the NFL. His primary purpose would be a short yardage 3rd back and goaline situation due to his cutting ability in short space. His role on an NFL roster will be limited due to his inability to produce in the receiving game froma ball catching and pass blocking perspective. Today's NFL is geard towards three down backs and Boyd has yet to show that he can produce that way. Boyd is a hard worker and can help in a running back by committee backfield in order to switch it up. Boyd will earn every touch he can get and will work his time in the NFL. He had to do the same thing at Arkansas while the razorbacks still had Trayveon Williams. Boyd will more than likely be a late-day three pick or be undrafted but his story itself goes a long way and may give him the recognition needed to be a late pick. Boyd was a star on "Last Chance U" so he is more well known than most late day propsects. If Boyd can improve his pass ctaching and blocking ability, then expect him to take on a bigger role at the NFL level.
