Strengths

Olonilua is a premium athlete with a rare blend of size and fluidity. He is able to run over defenders at will due to his forward lean, run strength, and leg drive. He is not just a bruising back though, and will wait patiently behind the LOS then burst upfield for good gains. He also flashes the ability to be a dynamic pass catcher due to those same physical traits he uses when running the ball, but when matched up against smaller defenders he is able to dominate at will. He is a sure handed receiver and will be able to contribute as a pass protector on third down as well.

Weaknessess

Biggest knock is a lack of elite long speed and elusiveness in the open field. He is better at one cutting and getting upfield than dancing around in space, but he does have some slipperiness to evade oncoming defenders. He was used exclusively in a committee at TCU so how will he adjust to a full workload at the next level.

Big Picture

Sewo Olonilua is RB that is coming into the draft without a lot of buzz, but his athleticism, size, and rare weight room accolades put him squarely in the conversation as one of the Top 5 backs in this draft. He will be a player 3 years from now that all the media pundits will question how they missed on him, because I see him going on late day two to early day three, but he will be a year one contributor who will be a featured back by year three. Teams such as the Steelers, Eagles, Jets, Chiefs, Packers, Dolphins, and Falcons should be interested in this big back. His playing style reminds me of when Le'Veon Bell came out of Michigan State and was drafted by the Steelers.

Freak athlete who has ridiculous weight room strength. His balance and quickness is rare for a runner that has his stature. Can hit small creases quickly and get skinny through the hole in order to break into the second level of defenses. He does not have dynamic open field ability rather he has some elusiveness in short areas. Gets to top speed in just a few steps and can break off a number of 15yd+ gains, but he simply doesn't have elite long speed.

Big Play Ability

Great patience to allow his blocks to develop in front of him then burst through the LOS for quality gains. He is at his best when he can one cut and get upfield as his forward lean, running strength, and churning legs allow him to walk through defenders trying to tackle him around the ankles. He has huge hands and corrals the ball away from harm's way and fumbling hasn't been an issue of his.

Receiving:

7.53

Soft, natural hand catcher who can pluck passes easily away from his frame. Was deployed as an outside WR and in the slot to utilize his size and strength to his advantage over smaller defenders. His ability to create separation in his route running is impressive and should be able to contribute on all three downs.

Willing and able lead blocker who was able to locate and fit on a number of lead blocks on QB draws. He uses quick feet and his size to combat blitzing defenders on third down situations, but he will have to continually monitor his ability to anchor his larger frame when he is matched up with quicker defenders.

Was used in a committee throughout the duration of his time at TCU, but has all the ingredients you look for in a feature back at the next level, and the reduced wear on his body due to that committee is actually a benefit. He is a highly motivated and accountable young man who had a hiccup off the field before his senior season, but made amends and seems to be set on putting that behind him.

Intelligence:

7.83

Great feel for when rushing lanes are going to open up, and can get upfield in a hurry. He was used in a number of different positions from RB, Outside WR, Slot WR, Move TE, FB, and Wildcat QB. Unique athlete that hasn't scratched the surface of his potential.
